Montgomery County Public Schools is accepting applications for a Debate Coach at Blacksburg High School for the2025-2026 school year.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
The debate coach will provide instructional and supervisory support to the debate team.
Essential Functions:
- Attends tournaments and practices which includes judging practice debates
- Coordinates activities of the club
- Helps prepare novice evidence
- Modifies varsity files into novice versions with the assistance of varsity members of the debate team
- Copies distributes and keeps track of who has received evidence
- Makes copies of missing evidence
- Maintains storage space
- Maintains paper-back files
- Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient functioning of the club i.e.
- Evaluates checks in and organizes evidence to the file server
- Maintains additional paperless materials including ballots and event results
- Allocates laptops and oversees that template is installed correctly
- Assists with maintaining and updating website with digital media and debate news
- Drives students to matches and chaperones overnight trips as needed
The goal of the club is to develop a competitive debate team from a large group of students of diverse backgrounds
