K-6 STEM Instructional Coach
Were looking for a passionate and knowledgeable K-6 STEM Instructional Coach and Specialist Teacher to join our team. This dual role is perfect for an educator who excels at both hands-on teaching and mentoring peers. You will be responsible for both directly teaching students and guiding teachers in best practices for STEM and project-based learning.
Key Responsibilities
STEM Instructional Coaching
- Coach Teachers: Work directly with K-6 teachers to develop and implement high-quality engaging STEM and Project-Based Learning (PBL) lesson plans.
- Curriculum Development: Collaborate with teachers to align STEM activities and PBL units with state and national standards ensuring a cohesive and rigorous curriculum across all grade levels.
- Professional Development: Design and lead professional development workshops for staff on a variety of STEM and PBL topics including new technologies and pedagogical strategies.
- Resource Management: Manage a variety of digital and physical resources to support effective STEM instruction (i.e. hydroponics robots science lab materials makerspace materials 3D printers STEM kits etc.)
STEM Specialist Teaching & Extracurriculars
- Direct Instruction: Teach dedicated STEM classes to K-6 students focusing on inquiry-based learning and problem-solving. This includes planning and executing engaging lessons that meet Utah Platinum Designation STEM standards.
- PBL Facilitation: Guide students through long-term interdisciplinary projects that challenge them to apply their knowledge to real-world problems.
- Family STEM Days: Plan and coordinate grade-level family STEM days throughout the year creating engaging hands-on experiences that encourage families to explore STEM together.
- Annual STEM Fest: Organize and manage the annual school-wide STEM Fest an event that celebrates student innovation and showcases projects and activities for the entire school community. This includes reaching out to local businesses and stakeholders to be a part of our community event.
- Science/Engineering Fair Coordinator: Plan organize and manage the schools annual science and engineering fair including setting deadlines recruiting judges and overseeing student participation.
- STEM Olympiad Coach: Coach and mentor a student team for the district STEM Olympiad. This includes recruiting students and leading practice sessions.
- Student Support: Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment where students feel safe to explore experiment and learn from their mistakes.
SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- Professional Educators License
- 3-5 years of successful teaching
- Instructional coach endorsement preferred or (willing to obtain it)
Minimum of 3-5 years experience teaching with a record of successfully impacting student achievement and working successfully with students who have the greatest needs. Proven ability to work cooperatively and effectively with colleagues including the ability to create and nurture a professional community of adult learners. Demonstrated leadership qualities and strong interpersonal skills including giving and receiving constructive feedback. Proven ability in using student-level data to guide instructional decisions. Demonstrated Teacher Leadership. Strong pedagogical knowledge and content expertise. Demonstrated expertise in oral and written communication. Strong interpersonal skills. Models continual improvement demonstrates lifelong learning and applies new learning to help all students achieve. Demonstrates evidence of professional growth including leadership and participation in a wide range of significant professional development activities.

Science or STEM endorsement preferred**
