We are undertaking an ambitious and strategic journey to become Europes leading provider of Purpose-Built Student Accommodation (PBSA). With active expansion into key markets including Germany and Italy we are building the foundations for long-term pan-European growth. With this growth in mind we place a strong emphasis on quality safety and compliance in everything we do. As part of our commitment to operational excellence we are expanding our compliance function to support our continued growth.

We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly experienced Compliance Manager to oversee regulatory and statutory compliance across our European portfolio. Based in Madrid this role will work under the leadership of the Head of Health & Safety and play a critical part in ensuring our residential properties meet and exceed all compliance requirements across multiple jurisdictions. Youll be instrumental in driving operational assurance and risk mitigation through robust systems policies and processes.

KEY TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES (include but are not limited to)

Compliance Oversight

  • Monitor and manage compliance with health & safety building fire safety environmental and statutory regulations across all European assets.
  • Maintain a comprehensive compliance register and ensure timely completion of all statutory inspections certifications and remedial actions.

Audit and Risk Management

  • Plan and conduct regular internal compliance audits and support external inspections.
  • Identify compliance gaps assess risk exposure and implement corrective actions in collaboration with local teams and service partners.

Collaboration and Coordination

  • Work closely with Facilities Asset Management and Operations teams to embed compliance into daily operations.
  • Coordinate with external contractors consultants and regulatory bodies to ensure adherence to local legislation.

Reporting and Documentation

  • Ensure accurate record-keeping documentation and reporting of all compliance activities and incidents.
  • Produce monthly and quarterly compliance reports for review by the Head of Health & Safety and senior leadership.

System and Policy Development

  • Maintain and enhance internal compliance systems and documentation including policies checklists templates and digital tools.
  • Support the implementation of compliance-related training and awareness programmes across the business.


Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Proven experience in a compliance management role preferably within property management real estate or facilities operations across multiple European jurisdictions.
  • In-depth understanding of statutory compliance requirements including H&S fire safety environmental regulations and building maintenance standards.
  • Professional qualification in compliance health & safety or facilities management (e.g. NEBOSH ISO 45001/14001 IEMA or equivalent).
  • Strong working knowledge of European regulatory frameworks particularly in Iberia Germany and Italy
  • Exceptional organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to interpret complex regulations and translate them into clear operational guidance.
  • Fluent in English; proficiency in Spanish and other European languages is highly desirable.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionally.
