We are looking for a reliable and detail-focusedPrep & Priming Technician to join our Production this role youll play a critical part in preparing our steel components for coating - with a strong focus on sandblasting to ensure a clean consistent surface that meets HERDs high quality standards.
Position: Prep & Priming Technician
Location: 2168 Springfield Road (no bus routes)
Role Type: Full-time Evening Shift: Monday to Friday 3:30 PM - 11:30 PM
Starting Wage: $17.00/hour $1 Premium
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare steel components for coating through cleaning and sandblasting.
- Apply black primer to brackets hardware and other parts with consistent coverage.
- Maintain spray guns and blasting equipment according to SOPs.
- Perform visual inspections to ensure coating quality and consistency.
- Troubleshoot equipment issues and notify maintenance as needed.
- Track coating parameters and production data accurately.
- Follow all safety protocols including proper PPE and hazardous materials handling.
- Support 5S continuous improvement and team development initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Experience in sandblasting coatings manufacturing or surface preparation is an asset.
- Ability to lift and maneuver up to 50 lbs. safely and consistently.
- Ability to wear a full face fresh air helmet for the duration of the shift/consistently.
- Strong attention to detail quality and safety standards.
- Comfortable working with spray equipment power tools and blasting systems.
- A team-oriented mindset with solid communication skills.
- Willingness to participate in training and cross-functional improvement efforts.
