SUMMARY:
The Assistant Director for Secondary Partnerships & Initiatives under direction and supervision will support and maintain program excellence for East Texas A&M University dual credit partners students and their families. The Assistant Director will provide academic advising support process course registration and enroll students into post-secondary partnership programs such as Pride Prep Early College and Dual Credit for East Texas A&M University. The assistant director will work to support dual credit students eventual matriculation to East Texas A&M through developing and promoting effective academic program pathways for dual credit students to enter a baccalaureate program at the University. The Assistant Director will coordinate and host dual credit parent nights application days course registration events academic advising sessions as well as support degree pathways recruitment and college transition of dual credit and post-secondary partnership students to East Texas A&M University.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supports the Executive Director of Secondary Partnerships & Initiatives efforts to establish promote and sustain dual credit program excellence specifically in operational areas related to direct relationships with school leaders students and families.
- Assists the Director of Secondary Partnerships & Initiatives with establishing dual credit course schedules including regular collaboration and interaction with school principals counselors and other relevant school personnel to ensure the schedules accuracy and appropriateness.
- Remains current with dual credit trends regulations legislation and accreditor expectations. Assists Director of Secondary Partnerships & Initiatives with regular review and assessment of processes connected with dual credit to ensure program excellence.
- Collaborates with the Director of Secondary Partnerships & Initiatives in developing and executing effective business processes for dual credit application enrollment registration and grade reporting.
- Collaborates with other relevant University offices to connect dual credit students with East Texas A&M University and its academic programs. Promotes dual credit as a first step to matriculation as a degree-seeking undergraduate student at the University.
- Connects dual credit partners and students with appropriate campus resources to facilitate student success and affinity for East Texas A&M University.
- Engages with partner schools teachers students and families through school visits presentations dual credit handbook and manual development. Answers questions and provides solutions to students and families regarding dual credit.
- Makes regular partner school visits representing the University in a professional manner to maintain strong relationships with partner schools troubleshoot issues and promote more effective service to partner schools students and families.
- Provides academic advising to dual credit students connecting their dual credit courses to undergraduate degree plans through the development and use of guided pathway documents.
- Contributes to the overall success of University dual credit programs by performing these duties in a manner consistent with the mission goals values and priorities of the University and by performing all other duties as assigned.
- Ability to travel at least 75%
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Education: Bachelors degree in applicable field
- Experience / Knowledge / Skills: At least (3) three years of full-time progressive work experience in K-12 or higher education is required. Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of current trends and best practices in administering post-secondary educational programs are required. Supervisory experience to include providing guidance and support to student and or graduate assistants is required. Demonstrated experience in planning mid to large-scale events and execution is required.
- Ability to: Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills and collaborate with internal and external partners is required. The ability to travel to high school day and night programs and other visits throughout Texas is required.
- Licensing/Professional Certifications: Valid drivers license.
- Physical Requirements: Must be able to travel at least 75%
- Other Requirements: Normal work week is 8:00 am-5:00 pm but there may be occasional work beyond normal office hours and/or work on weekends which may include occasional overnight travel.
PREFERRED EDUCATION / SKILLS/ EXPERIENCE:
A Masters degree is preferred. Familiarity with database systems such as Ellucian Banner PeopleSoft or some other type of database product utilized by institutions of higher learning is preferred. Background in customer service sales marketing and higher education is beneficial. Knowledge of undergraduate and graduate admissions financial aid scholarships and academic and student services is preferred.
