Job Summary

Main Purpose:
Provide a safe environment for the movement of prisoners within the court building ensuring their welfare.
Main responsibilities:
- Primarily responsible for the high standards of safety and welfare of Prisoners in their care especially those identified as vulnerable or with other special needs
- Carry out Custody Area opening and closing checks and general security checks throughout the day
- Escort Prisoners to and from vehicles and Custody Areas in a safe and secure manner
- Search Prisoners and cells to ensure that security and safety are maintained
- Identify and deal with Prisoners to reduce risks to safety and security and to maintain good order and discipline
- Accurate collation of relevant documentation in relation to all Prisoners
- Escort Prisoners to and from the Court in a safe and secure manner
- Carry out the duties of a dock officer
- Provide Prisoners with refreshments in line with requirements
- Help supervise official visits to Prisoners as required
- Carry out cell patrols to ensure that safety and security are maintained
- Observe Prisoners in cells within the Custody Area at the designated Court
