Job Summary

Position Summary

The Reentry Career/Success Coach is responsible for identifying the needs for successful re-entry linking to services that contribute to successful re-entry instructing groups in reentry skills and coordinating the delivery of services. Listed below are the primary responsibilities of this position; however the Director of Reentry Services and his/her designee may assign other professional duties to meet the Colleges needs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Schedules presentations for potential students within and outside the prison setting including shop tours Q&A sessions course and program content information instructor expectations credentialing options etc.
  • Performs interest/aptitude surveying.
  • Creates individualized career plans.
  • Facilitates enrollment in career technical training.
  • Provides one-on-one mentoring and guidance.
  • Instruct students and prospective students in reentry skills.
  • Participates in multi-disciplinary teams working with students to develop and implement a viable re-entry plan.
  • Completes required paperwork in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Participates in in-service training and other continuing education activities to enhance job skills and knowledge.
  • Understands and maintains a valid Alabama Drivers license and the ability to meet the requirements of insurability established by ISTCs insurance carrier.
  • Understands and maintains confidentiality within the bounds of legal and ethical standards as well as a high standard of professional integrity.
  • Must be eligible to enter any/all Department of Corrections (DOC) facilities to perform the job duties and maintain this status for continued employment.
  • Demonstrates computer literacy by utilizing current technology to communicate and complete reports.
  • Possesses an understanding of and commitment to the philosophy and mission of a community and technical college.
  • Possesses a sensitivity and commitment to cultural diversity.
  • Complies with any applicable guidelines and policies set forth by the Alabama Community College System and J. F. Ingram State Technical College.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to make independent judgments solve problems provide leadership and work with diverse groups of people.
  • Excellent organization skills attentive to detail and can prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Willing to be flexible with work schedule as workload dictates.
  • Understand and maintain confidentiality and professional integrity.
  • Reliable and punctual.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others internal and external to the College.

Qualifications

REQUIRED:
An Associates degree in a human services field from a regionally accredited institution.

PREFERRED:
A bachelors degree in human services from a regionally accredited institution.
Experience working with correctional populations.
Knowledge of Department of Corrections Administrative Regulations.
Experience working with educationally or vocationally challenged individuals.

Salary Range: Salary will be determined by placement on the appropriate Alabama Community College System-approved salary schedule. E3 03 ($45220 - $62710)
