Union Tank Car Company is seeking applicants to become a Valve Technician at our full-service rail tank car repair shop in El Dorado KS. The Companys regulatory engineering and commercial expertise make UTLX the preferred source of railcars and services for many of its customers. Owned by the Marmon Group and Berkshire Hathaway UTLX headquarters is in Chicagos financial district close to major public transportation hubs. Primary Job Functions
This is not an exhaustive list and employees in these classifications frequently may be required to perform additional duties. Not all classifications will be required to perform all job functions.

• Removes cleans repairs tests and applies valves and fittings when required.
• Disassembles and assembles fittings on tank cars.
• Tests tank car fittings and valves to reveal possible defects.
• Rebuilds tank car fittings and valves and tests them using specified methods.
• Maintains stock levels of and issues tools spare parts safety equipment and related repair and repair support items to production maintenance and other production support personnel.
• Performs inspection to issued items to ensure that they are safe and in satisfactory condition.
• Maintains work area in a neat and orderly manner and reports potential hazards.

Knowledge and Skills Required

• Must have a High School Diploma GED or pass a Combined Basic Skills Test
• Must have mechanical abilities and be familiar with power tools

Environmental Conditions

• Moderate to heavy physical effort involved. Lifts and carries necessary equipment to car to perform operation.
• Climbs walks and balances on top of car.
• Uses hand tools power tools and equipment
• Must follow prescribed safety rules to avoid possible injury.
