BEHAVIOR TECHNICIAN
Behavior Technician (Registered Behavior Technician - RBT Preferred)
Overview:The Behavior Technician is a specialized role focusing on the direct application of behavior-analytic services to students. This role is distinct from general classroom support focusing specifically on implementing behavior intervention plans and student-specific programs.
All Behavior Technicians whether RBT-certified or not will operate under defined structure receiving guidance in the delivery of specialized behavior-analytic interventions.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver Behavior-Analytic Services: Directly assist in delivering behavior-analytic services to students implementing interventions and procedures as determined and directed by a BCBA.
Perform Specific Activities: Conduct activities that behavior technicians typically perform which may include conducting preference assessments implementing discrete-trial teaching procedures and generating session notes among others.
Data Collection: Collect and record data on student progress and behavior as directed by the BCBA.
Adhere to Professional Ethics: Demonstrate excellent integrity and good moral character exhibiting ethical behavior in all interactions with students parents and school personnel.
Interpersonal and Communication Skills: Exhibit a personality that demonstrates strong interpersonal skills to relate well with students staff and administration facilitating effective collaboration and a positive learning environment.
Confidentiality: Protect the confidentiality of records and information gained as part of professional duties using discretion in sharing such information within legal confines.
Qualifications:
RBT Certification (Preferred but Not Required): Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification from the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB) is preferred.
Professional Conduct: Demonstrated excellent integrity and good moral character exhibiting ethical behavior.
Ability to Work with Students: Have the ability to relate to and work with disabled children or students with autism and emotional needs.
Work Ethic: Serve as a role model for students and staff by demonstrating positive attitudes and an effective work ethic.
Education/Experience: While a specific academic degree is not strictly required for this specialized behavior technician role prior experience with Applied Behavior Analysis is preferred.
Continuous Learning:Participate in appropriate in-service and workshop programs and attend any required meetings to enhance skills and knowledge in behavior analysis.
7 hrs/day
183 days/year
$25 - $30/hr depending on experience.
