With plans to see SP Energy Networks (SPEN) part of the ScottishPower Group look to invest over 10.6bn in transmission projects across our transmission network in central and southern Scotland by 2030 the SMART Grid Operations team will play a key role in supporting SPEN to work at pace to deliver the network improvements that are required to support ambitious Scottish and UK Government 2030 targets.
Maintain strong commercial control of contractors on allocated contracts to manage the cost and performance against their contract targets ensuring compliance with the commercial contract management regime. Manage oversee and support the overall planning budgeting scheduling and cost controlling of projects. Ensures that business projects results meet requirements regarding reliability schedule and cost.
What youll be doing
Assess monthly contractor measures by interfacing with various team members and agree a financial sum for works completed.
Lead commercial meetings with contractors to agree costs and mitigate the impact of changes to the contract sum.
Record all contractual and commercial information associated with the project(s) within project files and commercial databases or other systems applicable.
Monitor and implement all contractual obligations with respect to notifications payments and responses.
Assess variations and claims including interfacing with various departments (legal Engineering Environmental project Management) to understand cause & SPEN liability.
Make commercial recommendations (including risks) to the business to assist with the decision-making process with respect to variations and claims.
Prepare & recommend a value for the contractor final account.
Involve the team in finding solutions to areas where performance is not on target.
Ensure assigned resources are deployed to maximum effectiveness.
Measure supplier delivery performance against contract KPIs prepare associated reports and identify improvements as required.
Review monthly recurring costs for services and validate them against the invoices received from partners.
Lead performance improvement plans where necessary implementing commercial performance measures as appropriate.
Provide timely and accurate MI to Commercial & Performance team as required
You will be predominantly office-based with occasional site work when required.
What youll bring
We are looking for individuals who have experience of working with various stakeholder groups and who can build effective working relationships within these groups.
You will be highly numerate and will have the ability to respond quickly and flexibly to problems solving them while prioritising effectively between competing deadlines.
As a minimum you will demonstrate:
Degree in Quantity Surveying or relevant/equivalent subject.
Significant experience of QS.
Expertise working on NEC.
Good knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
Full UK driving licence.
