About the Role

This role does not meet the eligibility requirements for new visa sponsorship applications therefore you must already have the right to work in the UK in order to apply.

As a Community Support Worker within the Safeguarding Team you will be triaging Safeguarding referrals. You will carry out the initial information gathering to determine if a Section 42 needs to be progressed. You will also be carrying out Safeguarding enquiries. Your team will have an office base and can work in a hybrid way. You will undertake visits to people in their own homes in a hospital setting or wherever the person feels most comfortable to meet you.

The purpose of the Safeguarding Adult Team is to ensure that there is a consistent and timely approach to applying safeguarding thresholds identifying and addressing immediate risk and establishing the outcomes of the person involved in line with Making Safeguarding Personal principles. The focus is on making safeguarding personal and therefore the service user remains at the centre of the enquiry.

You will provide short-term intervention (usually 3 working days) during which time you will aim to make enquiries to enable you to:

  • Apply safeguarding thresholds
  • Identify and take steps to address any immediate risk
  • Meet or discuss with the person involved to establish what their outcomes are in relation to the safeguarding enquiry. Where there are any doubts about the persons capacity to consent to the enquiry and advise of their outcomes a mental capacity assessment and if necessary best interest decision in relation to this will be undertaken
  • Establish who is involved with the persons care and who needs to be involved in the enquiry
  • Hold a strategy meeting or discussion

As a Grade 9 Community Support Worker you will be expected to have sufficient experience knowledge and skills to manage your workload under supervision to deliver a high quality person centred accountable statutory social care. This includes demonstrating competency undertaking Care and Support Assessments Mental Capacity Assessments and making Best Interest decisions.

About You

To apply for the CSW post you must:

  • Hold a Level 2 in Maths and English
  • Have relevant experience of working with adults in a social care setting and of working with other agencies within a fieldwork environment.
  • Understand the need to undertake need and risk assessments and the issues/needs that adults and their families/carers may have.
  • Have a good understanding of social care organisations and their roles and responsibilities as part of the wider community and voluntary sector.
  • Be a confident communicator who is skilled in negotiation persuasion assertiveness and conflict management and able to build effective working relationships.
  • Be able to recognise the limits of own accountability and responsibility and to seek appropriate support and advice when required.
  • Be able to manage a caseload and work to clear objectives.
