Job Summary

TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT REQUIRED TO REMAIN IN THE CLASSIFICATION AFTER EMPLOYMENT: Must obtain & maintain Class B commercial drivers license without air brake restriction regulated by Section 4506 of Ohio Revised Code within 12 months of entry into position.


ALL ANSWERS TO THE SUPPLEMENTAL QUESTIONS MUST BE SUPPORTED BY THE WORK EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION PROVIDED ON YOUR CIVIL SERVICE APPLICATION.

All bargaining unit and exempt new hires to ODOT must serve a one year probationary period.

The selection process for this position will include a structured interview. Candidate responses to the interview questions will be scored and the selection will be made in accordance with the OCSEA/AFSCME Contract.

This position is overtime eligible based on FLSA Standards.

If this position is filled internally the wage rate will be determined in accordance with the contract.

The final candidate selected for this position will be required to undergo a criminal background check. An individual assessment of an applicants prior criminal convictions will be made before excluding an applicant from consideration.

12 mos. electrical trg. &/or exp. to include troubleshooting/repair of electrical circuits (e.g. operation of a multi-meter wire splicing); valid drivers license required.

What You Will Do:

  • You will install and maintain basic traffic signal/ITS highway lighting and miscellaneous electrical devices.
  • You will utilize computer software for traffic signal operation asset management data collection and will review & perform positive response(s) & locating for OUPS tickets.
  • You will wire control cabinets program controllers & monitor cards perform monitor testing and conduct annual inspections for traffic signals.
  • You will inspect troubleshoot and repair/replace the highway and navigation lighting up to 480 volt systems (control centers transformers fuses luminaires connector kits poles & breakaway bases).
  • You will inspect maintain and repair/replace span wire and overhead signs.
