Job Summary

  • Hourly wage will be paid at step 1 unless otherwise specified bycollective bargaining agreement or rules outlined in the ORC/OAC.
  • The final candidate selected for the position will be required to undergo a criminal background check. RuleBackground Investigations for Employment outlines disqualifying offenses that will preclude an applicant from being employed by the Department of Developmental Disabilities.
  • The final applicant selected for this position will be required to submit to urinalysis prior to the appointment to test for illegal drug use. An applicant with a positive test result will not be offered employment.
  • No additional materials will be accepted after the closing date; in addition you must clearly demonstrate how you meet minimum qualifications.
  • Requires travel throughout State of Ohio & may require overnight stay. Must be willing & able to secure a Driver License OR supply your own transportation.

Completion of undergraduate core program in business administration or mental health technology (e.g. psychology rehabilitation social work); 12 mos. area to be assigned.

-Or completion of graduate core program in public administration or business administration.

-Or 12 mos. exp. as Mental Health Administration 4 65224 in Department of Mental Health. Note: prior training &/or experience must be directly related to area to be assigned.

-Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above.

The Division of Residential Resources is responsible for the oversight of Ohios eight Developmental Centers and the Community Capital Assistance program to help individuals with developmental disabilities have access to affordable and accessible housing in the community.

What will you do

As the Heath and Safety Oversight Manager at DODD you will:

  • Provide statewide oversight of Health & Safety Unusual Incident (UI) and Major Unusual Incident (MUI) reporting for Ohios eight Developmental Centers

  • Ensure consistent implementation of policies regulatory compliance and investigative quality assurance across all facilities

  • Monitor and support incident investigations; offer technical guidance on documentation follow-up and prevention planning

  • Analyze data trends to identify systemic risks and recommend mitigation strategies

  • Coordinate emergency management and safety protocols in collaboration with facility staff and leadership

  • Develop and implement statewide policies and procedures related to safety operations and incident management

  • Lead training and professional development efforts for staff on health & safety MUI procedures and compliance

  • Collaborate with law enforcement legal and human resources on high-risk incidents and labor relations matters

  • Serve as a liaison to internal and external stakeholders including families advocacy groups and government agencies

  • Prepare executive reports respond to public inquiries and maintain confidential records related to incidents and investigations
