The Department of Surgery at The University of Wisconsin is recruiting an exceptional colorectal surgeon to join our Division of Colorectal Surgery. We are looking for candidates with a track record of clinical excellence and academic contributions as demonstrated through training and/or practice experience. The selected finalist will have the opportunity to participate in all aspects of colorectal surgical care from cancer to complex benign disease processes. There are opportunities to contribute to medical student resident and fellow education as well as program building for our collaborative multidisciplinary efforts at UW.
This position will include an elective colorectal surgical practice primarily based at the University Hospital (UH) and UnityPoint Meriter Hospital (Meriter). Clinic will primarily be located at UW Health Digestive Disease Center (DHC) along with participating in other multidisciplinary collaborative clinics.
Applicants for this position will be considered for the following titles: Assistant Professor Associate Professor Professor on the Clinical Health Science (CHS) track and Clinical Assistant Professor Clinical Associate Professor and Clinical Professor on the Clinical Teaching (CT) Track.
This position requires work to be completed onsite at a designated campus work location.
This position has been identified as a position of trust with access to vulnerable populations. The selected candidate will be required to pass an initial caregiver check to be eligible for employment under the Wisconsin Caregiver Law and every four years.
Clinical:
Elective inpatient and outpatient surgical practice will occur at UH Meriter and Madison Surgery Center
Colorectal surgery call includes coverage of UW Health locations with inpatient services
Elective colonoscopy time is available at DHC if desired
Research:
Support for research and/or programmatic participation/development will also be considered.
Service and Teaching:
Teach medical students residents and fellows.
Participate in administrative and committee work to support the clinical and scholarly missions of UW Health and the School of Medicine and Public Health. An essential part of these duties will be working in a collegial relationship with other faculty members.

The department provides a robust infrastructure of services including academic resources such as the Wisconsin Surgical Outcomes Research Program (WiSOR) which provides support resources and a collaborative environment to facilitate surgical health services research. The Departments Office of Clinical Research provides clinical trial coordinator support for clinical trials as well regulatory support for research and the grants management team provides comprehensive pre-award to post-award support.

Board certification or board eligibility in Surgery through the American Board of Surgery or American Osteopathic Board of Surgery or equivalent by appointment start date
Board certification or board eligibility through the American Board of Colon and Rectal Surgery by the appointment start date.

For an appointment at Clinical Associate Professor or Clinical Professor rank on CT Track candidates will meet criteria established by the department and as outlined in the School of Medicine and Public Health guidelines for promotion or appointment to Associate or Professor on the CT Track.
