A Day in the Life

Youll begin in one core area with a plan to cross-train across the lab. Your day may include:

Coating

• Clipper: Secure lenses into baskets to prep for coating.
• Machine Operator: Prepare and run coating equipment including loading machine chemicals and loading/unloading sectors with lenses.
• Inspector: Verify optical performance and cosmetic quality post-coating.

Finishing

• Beveler: Use the bevel wheel to remove sharp edges from lenses.
• Mounter: Align and seat edged lenses; install lenses into frames for a precise fit.
• Edger Operator: Operate edging machines to size and shape lenses to frame specifications.
• Finish Layout Preparer: Mark centers/alignment and affix the chuck/block on uncut lenses.
• Tinter: Tint lenses accurately to specifications.
• Inspector: Confirm that lenses and frames meet quality standards.

Surfacing

• Surfacing Blocker: Use blocking equipment to attach blocks to lenses; apply protective tape to front surfaces.
• Surface Finer/Polisher: Operate machinery to fine and polish lenses moving through surfacing.
• Lens Washer: Hand-wash and dry lenses perform a quick cosmetic check use a de-blocking cup to tap and release blocks and remove protective tape.

What You Bring

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and manual dexterity with reliable depth perception.
• 1 year of related experience (manufacturing or similar). Lab experience is a plus not a must.
• Comfort working to measurable standards in a fast-moving production setting.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills; strong organization and meticulous attention to detail.

Working Conditions

• On your feetstanding and walking throughout the shift.
• Regular contact with chemicals; PPE and training provided.
• Areas can be wet dirty and may have noticeable odors.
• Openness to overtime when business needs arise.

Compensation and Benefits

Compensation considers location experience qualifications skills and applicable minimum wage laws. You may be eligible for a bonus and/or commission alongside a comprehensive total rewards program.
