The Kinross Gold Corporation is currently seeking to hire a Mine Planning Engineer to execute the strategy for the mine planning team and to ensure service and operating standards are met.
The Mine Planning Engineer will contribute to the design and development of processes practices and methodologies with the mine planning team. This will include ensuring continued growth efficiency and profitability of the team.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
Supervise and train department personnel to perform duties
Develop accurate mineral model(s) for use in planning and reserve/resource calculations
Design pits phases and other earth works projects based on mineral models and constraints such as mining limitations slope design criteria topography and facility locations
Use pit design knowledge of mineral models and production constraints to generate a short-term mid-term and long-term plans that accurately predicts mining process
Review mine plans and schedules and make recommendations on the integration of those plans with the long term project plans
Evaluate alternative designs and mine plans based on various operational scenarios with the goal of maximizing productivity and revenue
Conduct equipment studies to verify that planned production goals can be met
Make recommendations for opportunities that maximize efficiency and productivity of the entire operation
Prepare and Review resource/reserve estimations and technical report
Prepare and Review plan reconciliations
Prepare and Review designs of dumps access roads ramps and mine site facilities
Project management duties including but not limited to: contract review bid award cost estimation schedule tracking and reporting
Qualifications & Skills Requirements:
Bachelor of Science degree in Mining Engineering
Minimum of three years of experience in a mining environment
Knowledge of engineering techniques as they apply to pit design mine planning equipment analysis and project management
Thorough understanding of open pit mining operations as well as a general understanding of milling operations and mine maintenance
Thorough working knowledge and skill using a PC utilizing word processing spreadsheet and presentation programs.
Experience with MineSight or other related Mine Planning Software preferred
Must be presently authorized to work in the United States on a full time basis
