  • Job Description: Instructional Aide/Before-After School Care

    Summary:

    St. Anthony School is seeking an engaging and mission-focused Instructional Aide to float between grades Pre-Kindergarten to 4th grade depending on the need and to supervise students before and after school. Instructional Aides assist the classroom teacher or other educator in providing a safe supportive effective and well-managed learning environment for all students from Pre-K to 8th grade including before and after school.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    1. Works with individual students or small groups at the direction of the classroom teacher to advance student learning.

    2. Assists teachers in preparing materials for classroom and learning activities. Instructional duties may include: previewing material pre-teaching reviewing and re-teaching or creating visual aids.

    3. Assists teachers in the assessment of student learning and promoting the growth of students with special learning needs.

    4. Provides outside of class supervision (lunchroom playground class transitions etc.).

    5. Provides limited supervision of the class if a teacher needs to leave the classroom for a short period of time.

    6. Maintains confidentiality regarding student information and educational program data.

    7. Supervises students before and after school to ensure a positive and safe environment.

    8. Maintains a physical environment that is clean safe orderly and conducive to optimal growth and development of children.

    9. Performs other related duties as assigned.

    Qualifications:

    To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge skill and/or ability required.     1. The ability to interact positively and patiently with children.

    2. The ability to maintain strict confidentiality and flexibility.

    3. Successful completion of a background check.

    4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team setting.

    5. Early Childhood teaching experience preferred.

    6. Has completed Washington State STARS requirements for early learning programs or has the ability to meet that requirement upon hiring.

    7. Preferred - Experience working within a state licensed program; possesses intimate knowledge of Washington State Department of Early Learning Child Care Licensing regulations and guidelines is preferred.

    8. Able to meet the physical demands of caring for children including lifting and carrying children equipment and furniture cleaning and maintaining equipment and facility and moving throughout the classroom and campus on a daily basis

    9. Possesses strong communication and interpersonal skills

    Physical Demands:

    The position requires the ability to lift and move boxes weighing up to 30 pounds and to stand for extended periods of time.


    Benefits / Hours:

    This role is a non-benefited part-time position of 25-28 hours / week. The hourly rate is $21.74/hour. Any offered salary is determined based on internal equity internal salary ranges market data applicants skills and prior relevant experience degrees and certifications.
