Job Description:
Job Profile Summary:
The Childrens Ministry Worker is a position responsible for providing support to local Childrens Ministries at Kamloops Church and Resource Centre including the Schools Out Program and Around the Table Program. This position involves providing holistic care across these programs within the church and local community.
Responsibilities And Accountabilities:
Provides support in the planning preparation and leading of childrens events and programming including but not limited to Schools Out Program Around the Table etc.
Ensures the Gospel of Jesus Christ is exemplified in the performance of all job responsibilities and through personal example.
Prays with and shares the message of the Gospel of Jesus Christ with children youth and parents.
Knows and acts in accordance with security procedures of The Salvation Army to ensure the safety and confidentiality of participants (children youth parents). Ensures that all Territorial Abuse Policy requirements and child protection protocols are consistently observed in the running of children/youth/family ministries.
Assists the family ministries coordinator in developing program plans for ministries and maintains written records/logs and statistical information.
May be called upon to support special events within our ministries- Around the Table VBS etc.
Participates in staff training and development.
Provides leadership and oversight of Schools Out Program in the event of absence of Family Min. Coordinator.

May assist with different basic administrative tasks photocopy activities greeting parents and families etc. as required.
Assists with general cleanliness of the lessons area.
Assist with the MU/facility general clean up and set up for different activities.
Strong administrative organization written digital and verbal communication skills.
Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record check clearance
Valid BC Drivers License and clean drivers abstract
Love for children/youth and family-focused ministries
Performs other work-related duties as assigned.
Represent the organization in a positive professional and engaging manner.
Exhibit good listening and interpersonal skills have strong oral/written communication skills.
Understanding of individuals of diverse social and cultural backgrounds.
Good team player.
Good oral and writing skills.
EDUCATION EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Working environment is typically in the corps building in generally agreeable conditions and some outdoor
duties.
Some evenings may be required.
Ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
May deal with upset people or challenging behaviours.
Willingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army
in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities.
Work in compliance with OH&S Act and Regulations and abide by The Salvation Armys health and safety
policies and procedures.
Alternative combination of education and Experience may be considered.
Education Qualifications and Certifications:
Completion of High School.
Completion of a formal post-secondary college program of one academic year
Alternative combinations of education and experience may be considered
CPR First Aid or willingness to complete once hired.
Compensation:
The target hiring range for this position is $17.85 to $20.43 with a maximum of $24.52.Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions internal equity and candidate experience skills and qualifications relevant to the role.
