Position Summary This position is responsible for all aspects of PPA / Toll deal origination ensuring and maintaining viable deal flow for natural gas fired long term offtake agreements. The role will develop and implement offtake strategy by developing viable opportunities into a pipeline and converting projects in the development pipeline by securing Power Purchase Agreements or other relevant long term offtake agreements. The role includes marketing origination and negotiation of PPAs with utilities COOPS municipalities and corporates. Reports to: Vice President Business Development Position Responsibilities - Identifying and developing market opportunities in WECC / Arizona with major energy users utilities municipalities Coops and growing commercial and industrial segments including Data Centers
- Utilize existing and establish new relationships with procurement trading and origination desks at public and private utilities munis coops C&I off takers and marketers to generate a viable opportunity pipeline
- Provide deal structure recommendations to minimize collateral requirements and support negotiation of financing arrangements
- Delivering revenue and margin goals from development portfolio
- Preparing commercial materials presentations analyses and approval documents with support from the commercial proposal team
- Identify RFP opportunities and originate bilateral PPA targets outside of formal RFP processes
- Performing quantitative analyses to support decision making on pricing risk exposure and commercial terms
- Work with legal structured finance and other internal stakeholders to negotiate heads of terms and PPA contracts
- Drive power marketing ideas to definitive deliverables (financial models term sheets contracts) and timetables for execution
- Liaise with structured finance development commercial managers EPC and O&M to create power marketing solutions that optimize funding opportunities and enable asset development
- Understand developments in the preferred U.S. markets and energy policy and the impact these will have on Power marketing in order to keep PROENERGY at the forefront of the market
Required Qualifications - Comprehensive knowledge and proven track record of existing relationships with Arizonas major users including SRP and APS and the broader WECC market
- To identify the largest number of viable opportunities you must leverage your network of contacts maintain a good reputation in the industry and have established yourself as a reliable offtake counterparty
- Multiyear experience of negotiating Power Purchase Agreements in our preferred markets
- Experience presenting at many levels including internal and external stakeholders and speaking at events
- Knowledge and contacts across market segments including utilities coops munis public power government corporate and growing commercial and industrial segments including data centers
- Specific experience originating pricing structuring and analyzing physical and financial PPAs across multiple power markets customers and deal structure types
- Power trading and risk management
- 8 years in power origination specific to Arizona and WECC
- Must read write and speak fluent English.
- Successful candidate will need to satisfactorily complete pre-employment drug screen and background check
