Description:
The Communicative Disorders Assistant (CDA) is included in the Speech Language and Hearing Department as part of Special Education Programs and Services for the HWCDSB. The CDA works closely with Speech-Language Pathologists and Deaf and Hard of Hearing Central Resource Teachers and reports to the Manager of Speech-Language and Hearing Services. The CDA is centrally assigned to support both elementary and secondary students in schools across the school board.
Under the clinical supervision of the Speech-Language Pathologist the CDA will support the delivery of services to students with speech language hearing and/or communication needs. This position also involves supporting students who are nonverbal or low verbal and use AAC (low-tech or high-tech devices) and students who are deaf and hard of hearing and require equipment to support learning.
