Nationwide NF Integrated Digital Services is seeking an experienced Site Reliability Engineer to join the Imaging & Workflow team. Its a very exciting time in the IW space as we have many big key initiatives kicking off in 2025 and more to come in 2026. Applications that this team manages are AWD-NF Vision Views Capture NRS URBO.
This role requires a variety of technology skillsets and project leadership:

Modern observability tooling (New Relic preferred)
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to troubleshoot and mitigate issues in a complex production environment

Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality work.

Youll take a broad view and respond strategically to problems with a focus on reliability and member experience. As an SRE youll spend at least 50% of your time developing software to improve observability and reliability.
Youll help Nationwide protect our members by ensuring the availability and performance of our critical systems and by ensuring our product teams achieve and maintain high standards of quality and efficiency. With your understanding and work across value streams from user-facing applications to underlying platforms youll partner with numerous development and infrastructure teams to solve challenging problems with impact across Nationwide
Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
Uses automation as a primary tool monitoringthe user experience respondsto moderate production incidentsconducts postmortemsand acts to prevent recurrence of known problems.
Responsible for applying secure software and systems engineering practices throughout the delivery lifecycle to ensure our data and technology solutions are protected from threats and vulnerabilities.
Diagnosesavailability latency and performance issues; makingimprovements in code and configuration to achieve service level objectives efficiently at scalewith minimal human intervention.
Works with leaders to influenceandguideproduct teamstoimplement SRE principles and practices.
Creates and executes tools to automatetoiland improve the reliability of Nationwides systems.
Supports Nationwide services in production as part of a24x7 on-call rotation.
Works with architects & engineers to designreliability in to new and existing systems.
Works to ensure reliable interactions between Nationwide systems and Software as a Service (SaaS) providers through engineering and relationship management.
May perform other responsibilities as assigned.
Reporting Relationships: Reports to AVP Director Technology Engineering Manager/Technology Product Manager.
Typical Skills and Experiences:
Education: Undergraduate studies in computer science management information systems or a related field is preferred.
License/Certification/Designation: Technology certifications or designation are not required but encouraged (i.e. AWS Azure Scripting and Development Languages Delivery Methods Security).
Experience: Six years or more of technology experiencewith system management most complex system design and using multiple technologies within one or more domains. Proven experience with CI/CD infrastructure as code and other modern IT practices with at least five years of experiencebuildingand operating complex distributed systems. Experience modifying codeand configurationsto improve availability latency and performancewith a systematic problem-solving approach coupled with effective communication skills and a sense of drive.
Knowledge Abilities and Skills: Strong communication and negotiation skills knowledge of planning management and execution of Accelerated Solutions Deliver framework Information Security acumen. Vendor management skills preferred Insurance/financial services industry knowledge a plus.
Other criteria including leadership skills competencies and experiences may take precedence.
Staffing exceptions to the above must be approved by the Vice President and HR Business Partner.

Working Conditions: Normal office environment. Non-standard or extended work may be required based on project needs. Some travel may be required.
