Position Overview

Provide proactive and practical legal support across Midea Americas business units reporting directly to the Head of Legal Midea America. This generalist role handles a wide range of legal matters focusing on commercial contracts CPSC and day-to-day legal operations within the manufacturing and consumer goods environment. Requires 5 years of relevant experience to effectively support global operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Draft review negotiate and manage a variety of commercial agreements under supervision (e.g. NDAs sales agreements vendor/supplier contracts service agreements basic distribution agreements).
  • Provide legal advice and support on CPSC compliance and other product safety/regulatory matters assisting in filings and incident management.
  • Lead end-to-end management of product liability claims (pre-litigation & litigation) including strategy discovery settlement negotiations and trial preparation.
  • Conduct legal research on federal state and local laws and regulations relevant to the business.
  • Advise internal clients on general commercial law contract interpretation and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Liaise with Midea Groups global legal team (China HQ) to align on international standards and reporting.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Education: Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Active membership in good standing with a state bar of the New Jersey Bar or be able to obtain an in-house license in 6 months.
  • Experience: 5 years relevant legal experience preferably including some experience in manufacturing technology or consumer goods.
  • Fluent proficiency (written and verbal) in both English and Mandarin Chinese is essential.
  • Solid knowledge of CPSC regulations and general product safety compliance principles is as an advantage.
  • Demonstrated experience in drafting reviewing and negotiating various commercial contracts.
  • Familiarity with using global metrics in a legal/business context.
  • Strong legal research analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
