Senior Materials Engineer

Position Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Materials Engineer to lead the identification qualification validation and development of advanced materials for our product portfolio. This role will focus on High Chrome alloys as well as rubber/synthetic blends polyurethanes and ceramics used in demanding mining applications. The successful candidate will bring deep expertise in metallurgy and material science with a proven track record of developing solutions for wear resistance and performance improvement in heavy industry.

This position will report directly to the SVP Head of Product Group PCV and will play a critical role in shaping the next generation of our products through material innovation.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead material development initiatives across High Chrome elastomers polyurethane and ceramics to enhance product performance.

• Oversee qualification and validation testing of new materials ensuring durability and suitability for mining applications.

• Collaborate with design R&D sourcing and manufacturing teams to introduce new materials into production.

• Conduct root cause analysis of material failures and recommend design or material changes.

• Stay current with industry trends new processes and competitive materials technology.

• Partner with suppliers foundries and labs to evaluate and implement new materials.

• Prepare and present technical documentation reports and recommendations to senior leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Metallurgy Materials Science or related field (advanced degree preferred).

• 510 years of experience in materials engineering with strong focus on mining heavy equipment or related industries.

• In-depth knowledge of High Chrome alloys and their application in slurry handling wear resistance or mining equipment.

• Hands-on experience with polymers rubbers and ceramics in industrial applications.

• Demonstrated ability to lead material validation and testing programs.

• Strong analytical skills with ability to interpret complex material data and translate into actionable insights.

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills across engineering commercial and supplier teams.

Preferred Experience

• Prior background in the mining industry or with OEMs serving mining operations.

• Experience in foundry operations casting processes and heat treatment of high chrome alloys.

• Knowledge of industry standards for material testing and certification.
