Position Overview

The Illinois Center for Rehabilitation & Education- Roosevelt is seeking a compassionate reliable and proactive Educator Aide to support our Transition Program for high school and young adult students with physical disabilities. This program focuses on preparing students for independent living post-secondary education employment and community involvement. The Educator Aide will work under the supervision of certified staff to assist with instructional activities physical support and daily routines in both classroom and community settings.

Essential Functions

  • Provides educational support and assists individual students or groups of students with physical disabilities in accessing instructional materials technology and classroom activities.
  • Supports classroom organization setup of learning materials and administrative tasks as needed.
  • Monitors students daily classwork to verify completion and maintains student work folders.
  • Assists teacher or principal in supervision of the classroom or Resource Center.
  • Attends meetings conferences and in-service training related to school issues.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required which are reasonably within the scope of duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires possession of a current valid ISBE Educator License with Stipulations with Paraprofessional Educator (ELS-PARA) endorsement OR Possession of a current valid ISBE Professional Educator License (PEL).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Completion of at least two (2) years of higher education or an associate degree or higher.
  • Two (2) years of professional experience utilizing classroom methods and procedures to support assist and direct students to accomplish educational objectives.
  • Two (2) years of professional experience maintaining patience and tolerance with a wide range of behavior.
  • Three (3) years of professional experience working with the diverse needs presented by physically impaired students and physically impaired students with identified secondary disabilities.
  • Two (2) years of professional experience maintaining and updating accurate student records schedules and information.
  • Three (3) years of professional experience in computer software such as Microsoft Office Suite.

Conditions of Employment

  • Requires ability to travel.
  • Requires ability to move lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Requires ability to pass the IDHS background check.
  • Requires ability to pass a drug screen for drugs prohibited from recreational use under Illinois Law.
