EDUCATION Degree or equivalent work experience equally preferableCERTIFICATIONSWORK EXPERIENCE Experience with command of structured query language (SQL) and SQL server tools Knowledge of database security backup and recovery and performance monitoring standards Understanding of relational and dimensional data modeling Scripting skills Strong mathematical and statistical knowledge Excellent written and verbal communication skills Hands-on experience with SQL Server including Always-ON Availability Groups Mirroring Log Shipping and Replication and creating/documenting Windows PowerShell scripts Have one of following experience: (1) Familiarity with SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS) SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) and SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS). Hands-on experience with SQL Server including Always-ON Availability Groups Mirroring Log Shipping and Replication and creating/documenting Windows PowerShell scripts (2) Hands-on experience with Oracle on Unix (AIX) and Linux (RHEL) including creating/documenting UNIX shell scripts experienced with Oracle RAC and Oracle Data Guard Partitioning Data Pump and RMAN (3) Hands-on experience with Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL implementations including disaster recovery - Full/PITR (Hot/Cold/Snapshot)FUNCTIONAL SKILLS Previous work in database administration information technology database architecture or a related field Exposure to the following: reviewing designing and developing data models in conjunction with the application development teams designing developing and implementing Oracle SQL Server and/or PostgreSQL databases for the development and production environments testing validating and implementing performance and resource optimization improvements in consultation with development teams performance benchmarks monitoring and analyzing system bottlenecks and proposing solutions to eliminate them monitoring database performance and optimizing via query tuning/indexing or disk input/output (I/O) analysis developing and executing migration plans for regular upgrades to all Oracle SQL Server and/or PostgreSQL databases monitoring and maintaining database security and database software database and application performance tuning backup and recovery with root cause analysis of production-related database issuesFOUNDATIONAL SKILLS Communicates effectively Identifies multiple paths to success through the development of analytical critical thinking and decision-making skills Exercises sound judgement and strives for continuous improvement Demonstrates optimism resilience flexibility and openness to others ideas Learns while doing Actively listens and asks thoughtful questions Leverages available technology to achieve efficiency and results Engages inclusively and with intent Always acts with integrityRESPONSIBILITIES High Level Responsibilities: Contribute to: developing implementing and maintaining policies and procedures for ensuring the security and integrity of a database performing data maintenance activities by analyzing data requirements developing logical and physical database models by using advanced tools and technologies performing backup and recovery configuring database parameters and designing prototypes against logical data models translating business user information requirements into system requirements object designs and applications creating and maintaining user profiles for database access including login and password information monitoring and resolving database performance database capacity data integrity and replication issues Participate in: data-system performance monitoring tuning and the development and implementation of improvements planning and conducting database unit and system tests assessing results and taking corrective action when necessary monitoring database and replication servers for resource utilization. Implementing database tuning and performance optimization data administration and reporting duties including information gathering and data source transformation integrity maintenance performance analysis and capacity planning migrating applications as directed as part of a database engineering team solving complex technical problems related to Oracle SQL Server and/or PostgreSQL both on premise on AIX Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and on AWS on Relational Database Services (RDS) and Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) Maintain and organize application databases and data dictionaries Provide support for maintaining and disseminating standards and guidelines for using controlling creating and maintaining corporate databases Details: Ensure that databases are deployed and maintained using enterprise architectural standards Coordinate data stewardship and other relevant data accountability structures across business and technology organizations to ensure data is effectively managed Monitor AWS databases and address any issues which are platform specific Partner with application and operations teams throughout the entire project lifecycle from design and development through testing and go-liveWe are open to considering flexible working requests in line with organisational requirements.
