Senior Mechanical Project Engineer
We are looking for a Senior Mechanical Project Engineer that will support our Airports team.
The vacancy is for a Vanderlande Engineering Department which responsible for the design specification and commissioning of baggage systems for our customers in Europe the Middle East and Latin this position you will be working with an engineering project team to develop a baggage system. You will be responsible for ensuring the design meets the customer requirements is coordinated with other trades to minimize conflicts during installation can be installed with efficiency and maintain excellent communication with the site team.
Success in this role involves the ability to balance the technical requirements of the role while also havingthe soft skills to collaborate with and motivate the engineering team. It also involves working closely withstakeholders from other disciplines and other departments to balance priorities improve processes andsatisfy a complex set of goals. Success will require strong technical skills creativity strong interpersonalskills drive and passion. A successful candidate will demonstrate a keen intuition for when to attemptto solve problems on their own and when to enlist the help of other experienced leaders.
Key Responsibilities:
Your responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
Translate customer drawings and specifications into a fully functional mechanical system
Optimize the functionality from as-sold to a working mechanical design within the budget in consultation with other disciplines (Electrical Controls Supply Chain Installation etc.)
3D modeling of systems and subsequent clash detection management
Associated 2Dcustomer approval and installation layout drawings
Perform spatial analysis of clearance envelopes egress pathways andforkliftvehicular aisles
Perform system and component level calculations (Throughput motor power belt pull reactive forces to building structure etc)
Engineering of project specials needed for non-standard design applications
Engineering of non-standard mechanical interfaces
Apply safety regulations and ergonomics
Specify the mechanical equipment required including both Vanderlande manufactured and third party purchased items
Create a motor manifest with respect to electrical and controls engineering requirements
Document all engineering decisions through design planscomplete and clear installation files and engineering instructions directed to a site supervisor and installation subcontractor
Travel to site as needed to conduct site surveys
Support the installation and commissioning both on site and from the office
Requirements:
Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology
Minimumof 8 years ofrelative work experience(or Associate ME/ET with 12 years related experience)
Must be willing and able to travel domestically up to 25% with occasionalinternational opportunities
Ability to think conceptually (overall system) and translate this into a detailed system design
Strong communicator able to effectively understand and set expectations for deliverables
Able to handle time sensitive situations and quickly set the right priorities while maintaining a firm grasp of the details
Strong team mentality and willingness to accept responsibility for project completion (Ownership Culture)
Ability to drive process improvements
Experience in project management or leading teams
Ability/Experience using Project Planning & Deliverables Tracking
Ability to use AutoCAD 2D & 3D
Ability to use AutoDesk Suite of tools (Revit Navisworks Vault BIM360 ACC etc)
