Job Description
Estimator Civil Construction (DOT / Bridge / Highway)
Plantsville CT (open to relo candidates)
We are seeking a highly skilledEstimatorwith expertise inDOT projectsincluding bridge rehabilitation new bridge construction highway infrastructure and bridge demo projects to join a growing civil construction team. This is a full-time onsite role based in Connecticut with occasional travel for job site visits (12 times per month).
What Youll Do
- Review and analyze project plans and specifications for civil infrastructure projects
- Perform detailed take-offs and quantity measurements for materials labor and equipment
- Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotes
- Build comprehensive cost estimates and assist in finalizing bid proposals
- Collaborate with engineering staff project managers and senior estimators on large-scale projects
- Work on high-value projects averaging $6M often lasting several years typically one major project at a time
What Were Looking For
Must Have:
- 510 years of experience in DOT estimating specifically withbridges structural steel and concrete
- Proficiency inHCSS HeavyBid
- Strong expertise in take-offs cost analysis and risk modeling
- U.S. citizenship
Nice to Have:
- CTDOT project experience
- Familiarity with AutoCAD
- Background instructural steel fabricationor CNC estimating
- Security clearance (not required but a plus)
Tools & Software
- HCSS HeavyBid(essential)
- AutoCAD (preferred)
