Responsibilities

The Manager of Import Compliance reporting to the Director of Trade Compliance will support the implementation and management of the companys import compliance program to ensure compliance with the all U.S export and import laws and regulations. The Manager will monitor the Companys global trade compliance program to ensure business activities comply with applicable U.S. and foreign laws and regulations including the Export Administration Regulations (EAR); International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR); Foreign Trade Regulations (FTR); Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco Firearms and Explosives (BATFE); Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and U.S. and foreign government sanctions and controls. The incumbent will act as a primary point of contact for import-related issues and will collaborate cross functionally within the company and with other business stakeholders to provide guidance and support for all trade compliance activities.

  • The Import Compliance Manager will be responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of import compliance to ensure that TDSI operations align with U.S. Export and Import laws and regulations to include the ITAR EAR BATFE and FTR. Although the position is geared towards Imports the Manager will be knowledgeable with export compliance as well.
  • Implement and manage a comprehensive import framework including an import trade compliance policy for TDSI to ensure compliance with U.S. customs and trade regulations and requirements including but not limited to developing and managing controls and procedures associated with entry (e.g. 9801. etc.) classification valuation and country of origin of imported or exported raw materials finished products and equipment.
  • Support TDSI commodity classifications to include Harmonized Tarriff Codes Schedule B codes and ITAR USML and EAR Export Control Classification Number (ECCN).
  • Tariff Management including reciprocal tariffs and all other related tariffs as announced and involvement with Drawback and Foreign Trade Zones if applicable.
  • Ensure compliance with approved U.S. export and/or import authorizations
  • Communication and coordination with internal and external parties including CBP Customs Brokers and freight forwarders.
  • Develop and conduct training on internal controls and legal requirements to comply with import obligations under U.S. laws.
  • Implement action for resolution of import compliance problems questions or complaints.
  • Conduct periodic audits of business units relating to their import compliance with company import compliance policy.
  • Maintain trade compliance records in accordance with U.S. regulatory requirements.
  • Support new process requirements across the business including training and communication regarding relevant updates and interpretations of U.S. import regulations.

Qualifications

  • U.S. Citizenship required. - Applicants selected may be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
  • Bachelors Degree highly preferred; will also consider 6-8 years of International Trade Compliance experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years professional import management customs and trade compliance experience in a global corporate environment.
  • Licensed Customs Broker preferred.
  • Thorough knowledge of ITAR/EAR FTR and BATFE regulations.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite of Software Applications.
  • Experience in commodity classification (HTS Schedule B USML ECCN).
  • Familiarity with international logistics management.
  • Working Knowledge of OCR Ease System Salesforce and SAP GTS desirable.

The annualized pay range for this role is $84USD along with a target incentive compensation plan (ICP) of 5%. The pay range provided is a good faith estimate representative of the experience level for the role described above. TDSI considers several factors when extending an offer including but not limited to the role function and associated responsibilities a candidates work experience location education/training and key skills.
