The Department of Facility Maintenance (DFM) Chief Engineers Office is looking for a creative and drivenArchitect IIIto join their team at Kapolei this impactful role in the Program and Project Management Office team youll help design and shape City facilities leading renovations structural upgrades and new construction projects that directly serve our community. What Youll Do

Collaborate with engineers and project teams bring design ideas to life and ensure each project meets the highest standards of quality safety and innovation.
Review applications for installations in City right-of-ways assist contractors and inspectors and ensure everything meets City standards.
Expect a dynamic mix of office and field work including site visits inspections and hands-on problem solving.
Perform other related duties as required.

Special Work Requirements

Frequent site visits and inspections are required to ensure work conforms to design specifications and the position demands sound judgement in identifying and addressing issues to maintain quality safety and compliance with legal and contractual obligations.
May be exposed to construction and traffic hazards chemicals noise electrical hazards and moving equipment.
Some physical dexterity required - climbing ladders walking on uneven surfaces etc.
Will be required to serve as Disaster Response Worker during civil defense emergencies.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

At time of application you must be a citizen national or permanent resident alien of the United States or a non-citizen eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:

Equivalent to graduation from a regionally-accredited four-year college or university with a Bachelors degree in Architecture Architectural Engineering or a closely related field.

The education requirement must be met at the time of application. Education obtained outside of the United States must be comparable to a degree earned at a regionally-accredited college/university in the United order to receive credit for the education a foreign credential evaluation (FCE) must be provided. We also reserve the right to request further information about your academic program evidence of comparability or an original transcript.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:
Two (2) years of non-registered architectural work experience.

Such experience must have demonstrated:

Knowledge of principles and practices of architecture and architectural engineering;
Knowledge of structural design principles relative to the preparation of architectural plans and specifications;
Knowledge of methods and techniques of building construction and construction materials;
Knowledge of legal requirements of building;
Knowledge of plumbing electrical fire and health regulations as they pertain to building construction;
Knowledge of the fundamentals of structural electrical and mechanical engineering as applied to architectural designs;
Knowledge of engineering mathematics sufficient to perform structural calculations.
Ability to design detail and draw features which are pleasing and functional for buildings structures and installations;
Ability to prepare building specifications cost estimates and quantities of materials;
Ability to prepare perspective drawings and do related art work;
Ability to make field inspections to secure essential measurements;
Ability to plan lay out and supervise the work of lower-level subordinates.

LICENSE REQUIREMENT:
Valid drivers license (Type 3/automobile) as required.
