JOB PURPOSE

This is an exciting and important role where you will be making a significant contribution to BBC Radio 5 Lives long-running business and economics programme Wake Up To Money and to the business news on Radio 4s flagship news programme Today.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT:

Following the domestic and international business news agenda and pitching stories in meetings.
Identifying potential contributors and booking guests to appear on programmes.
Writing presenter cues and briefs to the highest standards of accuracy demonstrating in-depth research.
Developing and maintaining relationships with figures from the business world.
This is a crucial role which requires fast diligent work under pressure. Its an exciting job working on two prestigious programmes in a friendly supportive high-performing team.

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:

A proven ability to cut through jargon and tell complex stories in a way that is clear engaging and accessible to a broad audience.
Strong knowledge of business and economics both in the UK and internationally with a keen eye for the stories that matter.
A team player who is always willing to help colleagues out.
The confidence to pitch creative distinctive treatments in editorial meetings and contribute fresh ideas.
Sharp editorial judgement: a strong instinct for whats needed from an interview a nose for a news-line and the ability to craft incisive revealing questions.
A rigorous commitment to accuracy always going back to the original sources research and data to ensure our journalism is of the highest standard.
