  • TRAINING & EXPERIENCE EVALUATION:The District reserves the right to utilize a training and experience evaluation. Applicant materials will be competitively reviewed and those candidates whose qualifications most closely meet the Districts needs will proceed with the recruitment process (Pass/Fail).
  • WRITTEN EXAMINATION: The written examination portion of the test may have multiple steps which may be administered on different days (100% of the total score).

PARTICIPATION IN ALL PORTIONS OF THE EXAMINATION PROCESS IS BY OFFICIAL INVITATION ONLY. Candidates who do notparticipate in all parts of the testing process will not be considered for the position.

POSITION DETAILS AND DUTIES:
FULL-TIME AND/OR SUBSTITUTE POSITION: SIX (6) HOURS PER DAY; TEN (10) MONTHS PER YEAR.

BASIC FUNCTION:
The job of an Instructional Assistant Special Needs is done for the purpose/s of providing support to the instructional program within assigned classroom with specific responsibility for assisting in the supervision care and instruction of special needs students in the regular classroom or in a self-contained classroom; assisting in implementing plans for instruction; monitoring student behavior during non-classroom time; assisting in meeting special needs including feeding toileting positioning monitoring and behavioral concerns; and attending IEP meetings.

Initial/Minimum Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Graduation from high school or equivalent.
  • Two (2) years of experience working with children in an instructional setting is preferred.
  • ALL CANDIDATES MUST TAKE AND OBTAIN A PASSING SCOREon the Lynwood Unified School District Proficiency Assessment (Written Examination) which meets a rigorous standard of quality and demonstrates through a formal academic assessment knowledge of and ability to assist in instructing reading writing and mathematics.
  • Any other combination of education training and experience that demonstrates that the applicant is likely to possess the required skills knowledge or abilities may be considered.

LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
  • Valid Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification issued by the American Red Cross or any agency authorized by the American Red Cross (WILL BE REQUIRED WITHIN 3 MONTHS UPON OFFEROF EMPLOYMENT).
  • ValidFirst Aid certification issued by the American Red Cross or any agency authorized by the American Red Cross(WILL BE REQUIRED WITHIN 3 MONTHS UPON OFFEROF EMPLOYMENT).
  • Employees must maintain up-to-date certifications in CPR and First Aid during employment.

TEST PROCESS:
Please note that the District reserves the right to add eliminate or adjust testing steps and/or information on the posting at any time during the position posting and testing process. The process may include but is not limited to further testing inclusive of on-the-jobtestingrecruitment and recruitment extensions which may be for less than fifteen (15) days after the certification of an eligibility list. REVIEWPROCESS:

ELIGIBILITY LIST EXPIRATION:
Candidates who are successful in all of the screening and testing will be placed on an eligibility list. Typically an eligibility list for a classification expires after one (1) year. Candidates on the expired eligibility list are no longer considered for positions within the class. Eligibility lists may be extended beyond one (1) year or expire sooner than one (1) year. If an eligible successfully tests for the same classification before the current eligibility list expires the eligibility lists will merge and the eligibles most recent examination score will be applied.
