We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Low Voltage Electrical Designer with 3- 5 years of experience in the construction industry. The role focuses on designing and coordinating low voltage systems including structured cabling fire alarm access control security audiovisual (AV) and building automation. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of construction processes codes and standards and the ability to collaborate effectively with project teams to deliver integrated and efficient system designs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design low voltage systems: data/voice cabling CCTV access control intrusion detection fire alarm intercom AV and building automation.
- Create construction drawings and details using AutoCAD and/or Revit.
- Coordinate designs with electrical mechanical architectural and structural teams.
- Prepare riser diagrams device layouts schedules and one-line diagrams.
- Perform system load calculations and device placement planning.
- Ensure compliance with NEC NFPA 72 BICSI EIA/TIA and ADA standards.
- Review RFIs submittals and shop drawings during construction.
- Attend coordination meetings site visits and inspections as needed.
Qualifications:
- Associates or Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering Low Voltage Design or related field OR equivalent experience.
- 3- 5 years of low voltage design experience in construction.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD; Revit MEP is strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with TIA/EIA BICSI NFPA 72 NEC.
- Working knowledge of structured cabling fire alarm security AV and access control.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural MEP and system drawings.
- Strong communication organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
Preferred (Not Required):
- BICSI (RCDD) or NICET certification in fire alarm/low voltage.
- Experience with BIM coordination and clash detection.
- Knowledge of Division 27/28 specifications.
- Familiarity with LEED WELL or sustainable low voltage design.
