Newport Pagnell Medical Centre is looking to recruit patient navigators to further expand our team. We are looking for staff on a part time basis for 22 hours per week over 4 days between Monday and Friday. You will also be required to cover Saturday morning shifts on a rota basis.
We offer a comprehensive training programme to all our patient navigators where you will initially receive 1-1 training followed by ongoing support from your trainer and team leaders.
The main responsibilities of the role include:
- Greet patients doctors and visitors at reception in a polite and friendly manner.
- Answer the telephone promptly and courteously.
- Make appointments using the computerised appointments system.
- Administer the procedure for repeat prescriptions.
- Open and sort all medical centre post both internal and external.
- Ensure the smooth running of all surgeries and clinics.
- Arrange hospital appointments where relevant e.g. x-rays out-patients.
- Receive patients specimens ready for pathology laboratory collection.
- Deal with general enquiries from patients and visitors in a helpful and efficient manner.
- Collate and sort paperwork from GPs and other Practice staff and deal with accordingly.
- Inform patients of computerised test results in person on the telephone or by letter.
Some flexibility is required as you will sometimes need to work additional or alternative hours to cover for colleagues.

- Excellent communication skills with a clear and polite telephone manner.
- Ability to work in a polite confidential and discreet manner respecting patients at all times.
- Experience of working with the general public being sensitive and empathic in distressing situations.
- Confidence to work as part of a team and ability to think on your feet.
- Strong IT and administration skills.
Strong customer service experience is desirable.
