As we continue our journey to establish Windsor Operations globally as a Technical Centre of Excellence we are seeking qualified applicants for opportunities within our skilled trade workforce as anAutomotive Mechanic.
ResponsibilitiesPreventative and scheduled repairs on in-plant PMHV equipment for a production environment semi tractors for a local truck fleet and internal combustion engine plant and maintenance equipment.
- Review and follow work order instructions from start to finish.
- Inspect and diagnose equipment issues quickly and repair items with immediate needs.
- Performing general semi-truck repairs on air brakes electrical components hydraulic systems doors landing gear etc.
- Experience with refrigeration and/or tailgate repairs is an asset.
- Perform general equipment repairs on diesel electric propane and natural gas-powered equipment.
- Conduct annual safety and magna-flux inspections.
- Outline all parts used and input comments into the work order (complaint cause and correction) regarding the repair.
- Inspect the entire vehicle and road test to ensure repairs are complete.
- Test systems and components using computerized diagnostic and other testing devices to isolate faults.
- Notify the Team Leader of any other needed repairs.
- Perform Ministry of Transportation vehicle inspections as per Ministry guidelines.
- Shunting and moving equipment in and out of maintenance facility and other destinations for repairs or return to service.
- Shop cleanup:
- Put away any equipment used including personal tools.
- Shop cleanliness washing floors and sweeping cleaning trucks and equipment.
- Attend shift meetings as required.
- Participate in formal and informal training sessions.
- Performing other shop duties as required.
QualificationsBasic Qualifications:
- Must hold a Provincial Ontario 310T or 310T and 310S Certification of Qualification(Truck and Coach Technician and Auto Service Technician) or an interprovincial designation from another province.
- Must be able to work all shifts (days afternoons midnights) on a rotating schedule.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Three (3) years working experience as a mechanic within a high-speed flexible manufacturing environment with prior completion of a recognized Apprenticeship Program under the Province of Ontario or equivalent.
- TSSA certification for ICE for propane and natural gas equipment is an asset.
- Prior work experience on power generation and diesel equipment is an asset.
- Possess a valid G Drivers License.
- Knowledgeable with air brakes and electrical diagnostics.
- Able to use current technology to ensure vehicle safety and performance.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to effectively prioritize and multitask in a busy environment.
- Experience with Freightliner Hyster Broderson Taylor-Dunn and Raymond equipment.
- Willing to work shift work.
- Continuously be Safety-minded.
- Proactive attitude and takes initiative to prevent issues.
- Well-organized enthusiastic professional and a positive team member.
