Summary
Are you passionate about serving those who have served us Catholic Charities of Acadiana is seeking compassionate and dedicated individuals to join our team as Veterans Direct Care this role youll be on the frontlines of care ensuring the safety dignity and well-being of veterans experiencing homelessness. This position is an opportunity to make a meaningful difference every day by supporting guests with their basic needs maintaining a secure and welcoming environment and embodying our mission to care for the sacred gift of all human life especially the most vulnerable. Key Responsibilities
- Monitor the shelter environment to ensure safety security and well-being.
- Provide respectful trauma-informed support to guests including meal and supply distribution.
- Assist with guest check-in/check-out processes and curfew procedures.
- Respond appropriately to incidents and emergencies; complete accurate documentation.
- Maintain cleanliness and order in shelter spaces encouraging guest participation.
- Collaborate with team members and supervisors to ensure smooth daily operations.
- Uphold professionalism confidentiality and compassion in all interactions.
- Support emergency shelter activations during severe weather events.
Job Qualifications
- Experience working or volunteering in a shelter or social service setting preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
- Demonstrated ability to remain calm in high-stress or emergency situations.
- Commitment to treating all individuals with empathy dignity and without bias or judgment.
- Willingness to perform cleaning and support tasks as needed.
- Ability to work flexible hours including evenings weekends and holidays.
Job Specifications
- Medium: Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. 100% of the time.
