What You Will Do
Beverage Preparation & Service: Serving beer wine and non-alcoholic drinks accurately and efficiently at all locations including courtside seats and The Deck
Responsible Alcohol Service: Checking identification to verify age monitoring for intoxication and adhering to all Illinois alcohol laws and regulations.
Multitasking & Efficiency: Ability to handle multiple orders and tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Physical stamina: Ability to stand/walk for extended periods of time
Attention to detail: Accuracy in drink preparation card handling and bar organization.
Relevant Certifications: Individuals responsible for sale of alcohol will be required to be TIPS or Illinois-specific certified.

About Extra Help Positions:
Extra Help job listings typically close three days after the opening date unless specified in the closing Help employees are appointed to fulfill casual or emergent needs within the university. The amount of time for which services are needed is not usually predictable and payment for work performed is on an hourly basis and based on actual hours worked. Workdays and hours may vary according to departmental Help employees do not receive SIUE benefits holiday pay or paid sick or vacation leave.
Extra Help employees are required by State Universities Civil Service System rules to take a 30-calendar-day break after working 900 hours. At the end of the 30 days you may begin another 900-hour employment cycle in a new position if available. Working Extra Help will in no way affect any other employment opportunities with SIUE including your position on and Civil Service register. There is no guarantee that working as Extra Help will lead to or secure permanent employment.
Illinois Residency Requirement: Pursuant to the State Universities Civil Service System out-of-state candidates must establish Illinois residency within 180 calendar days of the start date for this position.
Illinois residency requires proof of a valid Illinois Drivers License or state of Illinois ID Card. Failure to produce the required documentation within 180 calendar days will result in immediate termination of employment.
Pre- Employment Screening: All external candidates who receive a job offer will be required to undergo pre-employment screening for this position. The screening process will encompass a criminal background check and where applicable other background checks such as a drug screen verification of employment and education or licensure/certification reference checks and/or checks with relevant government registries. Please note that all job offers are contingent upon successful completion of the required screening process.
Additional Information: SIUE will only employ those who are legally authorized to work in the United States and visa sponsorship for this position will not be provided. International students at SIUE on F-1 or J-1 visas are not eligible for full-time or part-time civil service positions with permanent status.
