Job Description

Home Theater equipment installation and set up of household audio video computers tablets and smartphone equipment such as televisions stereo systems video cameras custom remote controls.

Duties

  • Install electronic equipment and devices such as network switches televisions and speaker systems
  • Inspect malfunctioning equipment and devices
  • Read and interpret electronic signal flow diagrams specifications floorplans and user manuals
  • Set-up & program equipment and cable manage loose wiring or components parts and devices.
  • Calibrate tune or adjust equipment and instruments to specified performance levels
  • Testing and terminating of cable and structured wiring systems using and troubleshoot after installing or repairing them
  • Make service calls to customers homes or bring equipment or parts to shops for major repairs
  • Teach customers the safe and proper use of audio and video equipment

Home entertainment equipment installers also calledservice techniciansinstall troubleshoot and fine-tune sound and picture quality ensuring that a clients home entertainment system works at its peak capability.

They work on many types of equipment including customers televisions stereos satellite dishes and surround-sound systems. They may specialize in one or many kinds of products.

Installing equipment such as DVD players video cameras mobile equipment big-screen televisions iTunes and Multimedia Servers.

Must travel to the customers location.

Service technicians work involves many different tools basic handtools such as screwdrivers drills hammers wrenches plyers crimp & compression tools may be required.

Knowledge and experience in the use of more sophisticated diagnostic tools including multimeters voltmeters oscilloscopes toners & tracers to identify cabing & electronic malfunctions such as short circuits and failed devices. Because of the growing complexity of home entertainment systems service technicians frequently consult schematics and manufacturers specifications for instructions on how to troubleshoot certain problems.

Service technicians keep records of bills payments invoices parts used and hours worked. Technicians also show customers how to use new equipment or explain the work that has been conducted and keep a detailed log with photographs. Must be able to lift over 75lbs and take a Ladder Safety test. Must be proficcient in mobile smart phones mobile apps excel email windows and Mac OS. CEDIA InfoComm CTS Certifications AutoCAD Crestron/AMX is a plus.
