Job Description

Description

This position provides vision and leadership for the co-curricular and professional development activities of the college (SCOBT) tied to developing students interest in careers in business and technology related fields. This position works closely with the Deans Office the career center faculty staff and employers and serves as a resource for students regarding professional skills development via coursework workshops internships and externships.

Essential Job Duties

Relationship Management (35%)

  • Lead the strategic vision for professional development programs for the college;
  • Serve as the primary liaison between the college and the career center;
  • Develop on and off campus partnerships that allow for college professional development signature programs to interface with students curricular experiences;
  • Increase college student engagement in career services professional development activities and understanding of career competencies;
  • Connect undergraduate and graduate students and alumni to corporate recruiters through career events;
  • Design and manage strategic recruitment and on boarding processes for new employers;
  • Develop and distribute resume books for corporate partners;
  • Partner with career center staff in directing students to timely professional development activities and resources;
Advising Programming Communications and Evaluation (50%)
  • Coordinate and oversee the development of a career education program that includes career development classes modules and workshops;
  • Manage implement and evaluate programs based on data and program objectives;
  • Provide career advising and services to students and alumni of the college including career decision making resume writing interview skills job search strategies experiential education and full-time employment;
  • Manage the college internship courses through software programs currently Canvas and Symplicity;
  • Measure effectiveness of career development classes/modules and internship/externship programs;
  • Recommend and promote resources for college students to enhance their professional development experience; promote resources by presenting to student organizations classes faculty and staff;
Leadership and Administrative (15%)
  • Implement and manage career development tools for students and alums (e.g Lightcast Career Coach Symplicity Handshake);
  • Manage program budget;
  • Collect and analyze data to report internship and full-time job placement metrics for the college;
  • Collect and analyze data to report student and employer satisfaction with career fairs and private visits;
  • Participate in regional and national professional organizations and conferences related to the mission of the college career programs;
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Masters degree is required;
  • At least three years of experience in student advising/mentoring recruiting human resources or career development work is required.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • General knowledge of career planning and development principles;
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students;
  • Ability to communicate effectively with employers university administrators academic officials staff and faculty;
  • Ability to read interpret and apply policies and procedures;
  • Proficiency in the use of various software programs including: Microsoft Word Excel and Outlook; Symplicity and other career development tools ARGOS Banner Degree Works etc.;
  • Ability to work evenings and/or weekends as events warrant;
  • Ability to use good judgment decision-making skills good organization and time management skills.
