ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Under the direction of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) Program Director and Lead Maintenance Technician position requires to plan organize direct schedule and participate in the maintenance and operations of READS Deaf and Hard of Hearing Program located at 399 Old Colony Road Norton MA 02766 (7500 sq. foot building). General job functions include daily custodial cleaning of the building maintenance and security operations of the collaborative; direct and provide technical guidance as needed. To perform general maintenance of school building and grounds including such work as painting carpentry glass cutting and replacement furniture assembly landscaping drainage work heating and other types of related maintenance plumbing and/or custodial work when needed. To maintain the school building and grounds located at 399 Old Colony Road in a condition of operating excellence in a manner as not to jeopardize the health and safety of students staff visitors and others who may use the property. Position is required to work on regularly scheduled school days during the school year (183 days) plus extended school year days in the summer (15 days). Vacation time will only be approved for days when students & staff are not in the building including school vacation weeks and certain summer break weeks. The Custodian/Maintenance Worker is responsible for maintaining a clean and safe environment for all students staff and visitors. This role involves performing a range of cleaning maintenance and sanitation tasks to ensure the facility meets high standards of cleanliness and hygiene. A successful candidate should be reliable possess a strong work ethic and have a keen eye for to and supervised by: Deaf and Hard of Hearing Program Directors and our Lead Maintenance Technician for READS Collaborative. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENTWork Year:12 months Hours:8 hours per day/ 10:00am to 6:00pm (includes 30 minute lunch break)Salary Range:$41600 ($20/hr) - $62400 ($30/hr) depending on Benefits per employment agreement including health dental disability and vision insurance. The position requires the employee to contribute to the Massachusetts State Retirement Pension Program. QUALIFICATIONS:Ability to clean and maintain all interior spaces and exterior spaces of the building. Assists in the ongoing assessment of repair and infrastructure of electrical plumbing and other related codes as required by law and pertaining to schools and public buildings. Knowledge of Massachusetts General Laws related to the procurement construction repair and maintenance of public buildings. Proficient in the use of technology and essential software applications such as email word processing and organizational and interpersonal skills that will permit effective work with a variety of oral written and verbal skills with the ability to prepare and present effective reports. Ability to work independently and anticipate next steps and/or future to navigate a project from concept to completion on a timely to travel between school facilities when needed to assist with other Deaf and Harding of Hearing Program classroom needs. Valid Class D Massachusetts drivers license to conduct routine preventative maintenance and general to work both indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions and climates. This includes general landscaping for the exterior of the building and other exterior maintenance needs. Ability to complete or oversee a wide variety of skilled and unskilled maintenance for ordering custodial supplies from our cleaning supply vendor to ensure services are being performed satisfactorily and supplies are sufficient for daily cleaning. Remains available for emergency maintenance repairs or security issues at various school buildings 24/ to engage in physical aspects of position which includes but is not limited to climbing stairs and ladders operating tools or controls exerting an amount of force and lifting up to 50 lbs. as well as carrying pushing pulling or otherwise moving qualifications as deemed necessary or appropriate by the Board of DirectorsProven experience as a custodian janitor or in a similar cleaning role in a public or private school is school diploma or equivalent is with standard cleaning chemicals equipment and safety with American Sign Language (ASL) is highly preferred but not required.
