General Legal Specialist:
The General Legal Specialist supports the company in managing legal and compliance matters assists in ensuring adherence to applicable laws and regulations coordinates risk management efforts and contributes to strategic initiatives for the company. This role provides both advisory and operational support requiring a hands-on approach and close collaboration with executive leadership internal personnel external agencies and external counsel when needed.
Position Responsibilities:
The General Legal Specialist strategically supports FES in Legal Compliance and Risk Management matters as follows:
- Supports corporate governance contracts employment-related issues and compliance matters by researching drafting and coordinating with outside counsel or industry experts as necessary
- Informs the CEO and executive team on legal risks and assists in coordinating resources including outside counsel in support of strategic decisions
- Assists in monitoring company compliance with federal state and local laws including industry-specific regulations and escalates issues to outside counsel/industry experts as necessary
- Supports internal governance processes and maintains compliance-related records with federal state and local laws in consultation with outside counsel as necessary
- Assists in development and implementation of internal policies and procedures to help mitigate legal risk
- Drafts reviews and supports negotiation processes in collaboration with company leadership and outside counsel regarding a wide range of commercial agreements as requested
- Serves as the internal point of contact for disputes litigation and regulatory inquiries by coordinating with outside counsel and ensuring company leadership is informed of developments
Required Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
- Eligibility to apply for a law license in Oklahoma
- Basic knowledge of corporate law contract law employment law and regulatory compliance
- Basic knowledge of federal government contracting for a technology business is a plus
- Basic knowledge of intellectual property
- Excellent judgment integrity and ability to evaluate legal risk in relation to business objectives
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience working with closely held or family-owned businesses is a plus
- Must be a U.S. Person (United States citizen or have permanent resident status in the United States. No sponsorship)
- Proficient in use of computer and software to include: MS Office; ability to gain proficiency in CostPoint and other relevant FES software systems.
Work Environment:
Normal office environment Expected hours 8:00am - 5:00pm
Essential Physical Functions: - Sitting for long periods of time
- Occasional lifting (up to 10 pounds)
