Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Job Superintendent with Construction Management (CM) skills to oversee construction projects in rural Alaskan communities. The ideal candidate will manage all on-site activities ensure project timelines and budgets are met and coordinate with local stakeholders in remote settings.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily operations of construction sites in rural Alaska ensuring compliance with safety quality and environmental standards.
  • Manage project schedules budgets and resources utilizing CM principles to optimize efficiency.
  • Supervise and oversee subcontractors laborers and material deliveries in remote locations.
  • Support and assist with the recruiting and hiring of local labor for construction projects
  • Liaise with local communities tribal organizations and government agencies to ensure project alignment with cultural and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor progress resolve on-site issues and report to project managers.
  • Oversee construction activities to ensure that they follow designs and specifications working with Kunas engineers and architects to resolve design issues and answer questions.
  • Ensure adherence to OSHA and Alaska-specific safety regulations.
  • Manage logistics for equipment and materials in areas with limited infrastructure.

Qualifications

  • 5-7 years as a Job Superintendent or similar role managing construction projects with increasing responsibility.
  • 3-5 additional years in challenging environments like rural Alaska mastering unique logistics extreme weather and cultural/community coordination.
  • Strong knowledge of construction processes safety protocols and project management tools (e.g. Primavera Procore).
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints specifications and contracts.
  • Excellent leadership communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with Alaskan environmental regulations and cultural sensitivities.
  • Ability to work in extreme weather conditions and adapt to limited connectivity or resources.
  • Valid drivers license; willingness to travel and live in remote locations for extended periods.
  • OSHA 30 certification preferred; Alaska-specific certifications a plus.
  • Advanced acumen in use of MS Suite Blue Beam Revu other AEC Software as required

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work in rugged terrain and extreme weather (cold wind snow).
  • Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs and standing/walking for extended periods.

Travel may require an employee or contractor to pass a TSA security checkpoint. If the employee or contractor does not have valid identification they will not be able to travel until valid identification is obtained and verified. For this reason all employees and contractors must have valid identification when traveling to and from the work site destination for a list of TSA approved valid identification visit .
