Now Hiring: 6 Firefighters Build Your Future with Grants Pass Fire Rescue (GPFR)

Help us write the next chapter at an all-hazards agency on the rise. Following the City Councils approval to fund six new firefighter positions Grants Pass Fire & Rescue is growingand were looking for service-minded professionals ready to learn lead and make a difference.

What Youll Do

  • Respond to and mitigate all-hazard incidents(emergent and non-emergent).
  • Provide BLS/ALS medical carealigned to your EMT certification level.
  • Document patient care accurately and professionally.
  • Train daily maintain equipment and uphold Duty Excellence Accountability and Community.

Residency: Employees shall live within 45 minutes of the Hillcrest Parkway or Redwood Fire Stations as calculated by department policy.




Recruitment Timeline (tentative):

Application and Written exam: National Testing Network complete and submit your scores to the City of Grants Pass by September 26 2025

Interviews scheduled: October 6 and 7 2025

Tentative hire date is: January 5 2026.

In addition to base salary incentives available to Firefighters who meet qualifications are:
  • Associates Degree: $75 per month
  • Bachelors Degree: $150 per month
  • Fluency in approved Second Language (after meeting City guidelines): $50per month
  • EMT-Advanced : 3%
  • EMT-Intermediate: 4%
  • EMT-Paramedic: 6%
(Note: Associates and Bachelors Degree incentives as well as EMT incentives are not cumulative.)

Minimum Qualifications

A high school diploma or equivalent and an equivalent combination of education training and experience that provides the required knowledge skills and ability to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.

Attach a copy of your Oregon EMT license or higher and your NFPA Firefighter I certifications to your application.

The following certifications are preferred at the time of hire and required by completion of the trial service period:
  • DPSST Wildland FFT2 Certificate
  • NFPA Fire Apparatus Driver/Operator certificate
  • IS-700.a and IS-100

FIRETEAM/NTN Written Testing Information:

City of Grants Pass offers full testing services for the position of Firefighter through National Testing Network (NTN). To register with NTN and schedule a test go to select Find Jobs then select Firefighter Jobs and sign up for City of Grants Pass.

Upon completion of your scheduled exam scores are automatically forwarded to the City of Grants Pass. City of Grants Pass will contact candidates on the list and will invite them to participate in further stages of the selection process.

National Testing Network does not replace the City of Grants Pass responsibility and decision making in the testing process. All candidate results are provided to the City of Grants Pass where the final decisions are made.

Ranking and Selection

Per Oregon Revised Statutes 408.225 and 408.230 the City of Grants Pass grants preference in hiring and promotion of veterans and disabled veterans as defined by state law.
