HOURS: 44.89 Hours Bi-Weekly (0.63 FTE)
Days; Flexible
SALARY : $37.89 - $47.31 hourly
JOB SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Director of Site Operations the Music Therapist uses music as the primary modality to assess and treat patients and serves as a resource to Providence Living Societys residents.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education Training & Experience:
- Bachelors degree from recognized Music Therapy Program and one (1) year of recent related experience in an extended care setting or an equivalent combination of education training and experience.
- Eligible for registration with the Canadian Association of Music Therapists (CAMT).
Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to deal with others effectively.
- Ability to work effectively as part of an interdisciplinary team.
- Ability to organize and prioritize work.
- Ability to problem solve effectively.
- Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
- Ability to operate related equipment.
Duties:
- Assess residents needs
- Plan and provide appropriate music sessions
- Actively participate in music sessions and encouraging residents to do the same
- Explore a variety of musical styles and sounds with residents through singing percussion using different instruments and improvisation
- Maintain records and case notes
- Report progress to families relevant agencies and professional staff.
