Saint Francis International School a Catholic school in Silver Spring MD is seeking a certified Math Resource Specialist to provide differentiated classroom math instruction as well as provide more intensive support to students in grades K-8 with math learning and is a full time position with benefits and competitive salary commensurate with experience and include but are not limited to:Classroom Math Instruction:Create lesson plans that align with the Archdiocese of Washington Academic and Religious Standards are learner based encourage active participation and address the various needs of all studentsDeliver a balanced program of instruction that incorporates direct instruction guided instruction individual/ group practice questioning demonstration and individual and group instruction for Middle School math that includes lecture discussion and hands-on activities. Administer assessments (both formal and informal) to determine if instructional objectives are being classroom procedures that optimize instructional and enforce rules that are clear and foster an atmosphere in which all can thrive. Maintain a positive learning environment based on mutual respect and high expectations for achievement. Assure that Catholic values are the basis of all interactions between students and a grade book that reflects students progress on a variety of formative and summative students grades and communicate status to parents and administration. Inform students and parents of assignments/projects and provide detailed written instructions rubrics and due post up to date information (homework projects and grades) to the schools grade book email notes home and phone calls to inform parents if a student is not making adequate academic or behavior conferences with parents if students need academic or behavior intervention Produce quarterly progress reports and report cards. Actively foster and support Catholic beliefs traditions and the Catholic Churchs teaching on social justice and witness service to others. (Policies for Catholic Schools Third Revision 2018)Lead and encourage prayer in the Catholic liturgical ceremonies (as required).Math Resource SupportUse assessment data to identify students in highest need of individualized math interventionProvide intensive one-on-one and small group instruction to identified high-need students across all grade levelsUse assessment data to differentiate instruction to assure that the diverse needs of all students are Standardized Test scores and other forms of assessment to adjust lesson plans and inform with development and implementation of student CAP plans as they pertain to mathCollaborate with classroom teachers resource and Title I specialists to best meet student needsProvide mathematics professional development to teachers as neededRegularly attend faculty and grade level meetings and answer questions about particular students as neededCommunicate regularly with parents to keep them abreast of student progressNon-Instructional DutiesPerform duties such as recess lunch and classroom teacher substitution (as required).Attend Home and School meetings and other after hours school events (as required).Participate in all required faculty and professional development a conscientious effort has been made to include all duties and expectations of the role the above is not all inclusive and the positions duties may be expanded or modified at the discretion of the :Bachelors degree or equivalentValid MSDE teaching license in mathematics (earned within 5 years of hire date)Previous experience teaching children mathematics instruction particularly with small group support (3-5 years experience is preferred)Strong ability to work with motivate and supervise analytical planning and problem solving skillsEffective communication skills and the ability to work independently and regarding schedules task sharing and for working in a supportive inclusive and student-centered environment.
