RN Nurse Manager - Behavioral Health

How youll contribute

Manages the daily operations of the assigned department functioning to ensure alignment with departmental and organizational objectives. Responsible for the direction of patient care with the assigned scope.

  • Assists the DON in directing all nursing activities within the hospital and in assessing and monitoring the quality of nursing services provided. Assists the
  • DON in recruitment and interviewing of staff and evaluation of employee performance. Conducts new employee training and orientation. Assist in
  • review and revision of policies and procedures. Participates in departmental and team meetings to discuss patient care and develop treatment plans.
  • The Nurse Manager is also a working RN and routinely personally executes nursing care duties to ensure quality patient care and proper execution and
  • documentation of the treatment plan.
  • Provides a professional working environment for employees.
  • Ensures the nursing department staff performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.
  • Ensures appropriate documentation including documentation of medical necessity by staff in medical records monitors completion and revisions to the Interdisciplinary Care Plan.
  • Ensures compliance with nursing scope of practice and HIPAA.
  • Enforces compliance of the nursing department with education/in-service requirements/orientation and competencies.
  • Assists with developing specific departmental goals standards and objectives which directly support the strategic plan and vision of the organization.
  • Manages staff relations including performance management staff satisfaction and conflict management. Performs and oversees scheduling staff development recruitment payroll and student engagements.
  • Monitors departmental budgets regulatory compliance departmental contracts and vendor relations. Determines and justifies needs for systems/equipment/supplies purchases monitors usage and oversees proper working order and/or stock supplies.
  • Assesses the quality of patient care delivered and coordinates patient care services with patients staff physicians and other departments. May provide patient care when necessary.
  • Creates and fosters an environment that encourages professional growth.

WHAT WERE LOOKING FOR:

  • Graduation from an accredited Bachelors of Science in Nursing Associate Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma program. BSN Preferred.
  • Current unrestricted state licensure as Registered Nurse.
  • CPR/BCLS certification. ACLS preferred.
  • CRRN Certification preferred
  • Minimum of two years of previous nursing leadership preferred.
  • Minimum of two years previous Behavioral Health nursing experience preferred.
  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrates strong problem solving and critical thinking skills.
