Research and Information Officer 8835 Permanent Contract 37 hours per week 31537 to 33699 per annum (Scale G) County Hall Norwich

We are looking for two Research and Information Officers to join the Highway Research team here at Norfolk County Council.

If you enjoy studying historic mapping investigation work problem solving and have worked on a GIS mapping system this may well be the job for you.

Previous experience in research work would be a distinct advantage as a fundamental part of this specialist role is investigating the position of the boundary line that divides public highway from private land.

You will study and compare mapping (historic and contemporary) search through legal records (deeds of conveyance and dedication road adoption records etc.) highway documentation interpret air photos study lidar mapping and engineering plans in order to form an evidence-based legal view on the position of the highway boundary line.

A questioning attitude and problem-solving skills are desirable to be effective in this role. You must be able to demonstrate success in working in a small team.

The workload is high and constant with enquiries coming from a wide range of companies organisations as well as the public.

After training you will be communicating complex results to people with varying levels of understanding and knowledge of the subject.

A flexible and adaptable attitude is necessary as well as a willingness to constantly develop your knowledge.
