DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW


We are Market Risk. While we dont actually predict the future we do like to think we get pretty close.

The Market Risk team is responsible for the independent measurement monitoring and challenge of enterprise-wide market risk liquidity risk and counterparty credit risk as well as collateral management activities in support of the Risk Appetite of TD. We have a global presence with teams in Toronto Calgary New York Singapore Dublin and London. TD recognizes that a strong risk culture and equable approach to risk management is fundamental to our success.

JOB DESCRIPTION

About the Program

The Market Risk Rotational Program is an immersive 24-month program designed to help you step into the world of risk management. The goal of the program is to help you develop leadership skills and better understand administer and deliver practices to achieve the highest level of risk management.

The Program is designed to attract develop and retain top talent and build a leadership pipeline within Market Risk.

If youre a natural problem solver relish large datasets and have a keen eye for risk thresholds we want you to be part of our rotational program.

In this program youll complete four customized six-month rotations* within the Market Risk businesses where you may learn more about:

  • Trading Market Risk including measurements of Market Risk Capital
  • Non-Trading Market Risk
  • Liquidity Risk
  • Collateral Management
  • Counterparty Credit Risk Reporting
  • Governanceand Control functions

Make an Impact:

  • Use your strong communication analytical and problem-solving skills to add value to each rotation youre assigned
  • Perform reporting and monitoring accurately and in a timely manner with clearly articulated results and recommendations
  • Investigate escalate and resolve exceptions in accordance with Risk policies
  • Prepare analysis and commentary on the business and market drivers; present findings to management and stakeholders
  • Identify potential problems that require attention and recommend appropriate actions to best manage the risks in varying situations
  • Execute controls to mitigate operational risk and perform ad hoc analysis as required
  • Define opportunities for continued enhancements to departmental processes and make recommendations within assigned areas of responsibility

  • Build a diverse skill set implement process improvements and develop the confidence to tackle challenging tasks in an entirely new area of each line of business rotation
  • Acquire an in-depth understanding of how theoretical risk management practices are applied to real world scenarios
  • Work alongside a high-performing team of risk professionals to broaden and deepen your understanding of risk disciplines
  • Collaborate and communicate with the team to meet deliverables and deadlines
  • Investigate escalate and resolve operational issues as required
  • Receive one-on-one coaching and mentorship from business leaders throughout your two-year program

JOB REQUIREMENTS

What You Need to Succeed

  • Keen interest in the risk management field and capital markets
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills ability to summarize and communicate complicated results and/or issues in a clear concise and timely manner
  • Strong time management skills can manage multiple deadlines and priorities in a fast-paced and complex environment while maintaining attention to detail
  • Strong desire to learn new things and develop an end-to-end understanding of processes
  • Fast learner who grasps new concepts and techniques quickly
  • Ability to organize analyze and understand large data sets
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products; advanced knowledge of MS Excel; programming skills (e.g. VBA Python SQL)
  • Ability to work effectively within a team with other teams and independently to meet business objectives
  • Desire to work in a caring respectful and inclusive environment where all employees are supported

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Educational Requirements

Graduated between May 2025 and May 2026 with a graduate degree in Business Economics Finance Mathematics Risk Statistics or related field with high academic standing.

Program Location and Start Date

This is a Toronto-based program which starts in July 2026. Candidates must have graduated prior to start (including final grades excluding convocation).
