Summary
Catholic Charities of Acadiana is seeking a Shelter Direct Care Lead II to provide leadership and support within our shelter operations. This position works closely with the Direct Care Lead I to ensure the safety dignity and well-being of guests while assisting staff in maintaining smooth and respectful shelter operations. The Shelter Direct Care Lead II plays a key role in ensuring continuity of leadership and compassionate care. Key Responsibilities
- Support the Direct Care Lead I by guiding and assisting direct care staff during shifts.
- Monitor adherence to shelter policies procedures and safety protocols.
- Serve as acting Lead I in their absence to ensure continuity of leadership.
- Oversee shelter operations including guest check-in/out meal distribution and facility movement.
- Conduct and document regular safety and facility checks.
- Assist staff in responding to emergencies crises and guest concerns.
- Ensure incident reports and shift documentation are completed accurately and on time.
- Help monitor logging and storage of medications valuables and sensitive items.
- Support oversight of cleanliness sanitation and supply distribution-stepping in when needed.
- Report maintenance needs and assist with submitting requests as directed.
- Model professionalism compassion and trauma-informed care in all interactions.
- Foster teamwork and a supportive work environment for staff and guests.
Job Qualifications
- Bachelors degree or four years of experience in social services shelter operations or related field preferred.
- Proven ability in crisis intervention de-escalation and conflict resolution.
- Strong leadership and organizational skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality appropriate behavior and professional boundaries.
- Physical ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and up to 25 pounds frequently as needed.
- Flexibility to work varied shifts including evenings and weekends.
- Must be able to respond effectively during emergency weather events or shelter freeze plans.
- Valid drivers license and ability to use agency vehicles as needed.
