Job Summary:

TheDirector of Epic Application Servicesleads the strategic and operational management of the Epic electronic health record (EHR) platform across the organization. This role ensures Epic supports clinical operational and business goals while maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations and IT standards. Key responsibilities include overseeing system performance managing vendor relationships guiding workflow optimization and supporting Epic expansion initiatives. The Director collaborates with clinical and administrative stakeholders leads cross-functional teams and manages the P&L for Clinical Applications including budgeting staffing and vendor contracts.

Qualifications

Education Required:

  • Bachelors degree in Information Technology Computer Science or a related field.

Licenses/Certifications Required:

  • Epic certifications in at least 2 of Ambulatory MyChart Bridges Cadence Prelude Radiant or others.

Work Experience Required:

  • 8 years of experience in application support and administration with at least 4 years on Epic.
  • 5 years of experience in a leadership role managing teams and driving cross-functional collaboration.
  • Experience in healthcare technology.

Preferred Qualifications Education Licenses Certifications Experience etc.:

  • Masters degree. Relevant certifications in application management ITIL or related areas. Knowledge Skills and Abilities Strong knowledge of agile methodologies.
  • Hands-on experience implementing agile practices.
  • Proficiency in application management tools and technologies.
  • This role involved overseeing team members and interaction and collaboration with other departments and requires excellent judgment and interpersonal skills.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Operational Support & System Management

*Establish practices and lead team in incident resolution system maintenance and performance monitoring to ensure reliability and security.

*Manage vendor relationships and Service Level Agreements and coordinate with Reporting Training and Security teams on Epic-related responsibilities.

Clinical Optimization & Workflow Redesign

*Lead cross-functional steering committees of clinical staff to intake prioritize and drive the development of enhanced workflow designs to optimize decision-support solutions and elevate clinical efficiency and outcomes.

Upgrade & Change Management

*Oversee Epic release assessments upgrade testing and go-live planning.

*Lead training and change management efforts.

*Ensure communication of system maintenance and unavailability.

Integration & Interoperability

*Develop strategies for seamless data exchange between Epic and other systems enforce interoperability standards and plan for future scalability.

Compliance & Risk Management

*Ensure Epic compliance with healthcare regulations (e.g. HIPAA) and maintain audit readiness incident response and business continuity plans.

Epic Strategy & Governance Collaboration

*Support JV onboarding Epic expansion and budgeting aligned with strategic priorities.

*Manage P&L for systems and headcount establish Epic system governance and lead implementation of new Epic modules and offerings.

Agile Process Management

*Promote Agile methodologies and SAFe continuous improvement principles across teams.

*Ensure effective communication and coordination using tools like Jira and Confluence within the Epic team and stakeholders.

Team Leadership and Development

*Lead and mentor Epic and clinical application support and product management teams.

*Provide training conduct evaluations and address skill gaps to build a high performance culture on the Epic and Clinical Applications team.

Stakeholder Engagement and Communication

*Collaborate with clinical and operational leaders to ensure Epic meets user needs.

*Communicate regularly with senior leadership on Epic performance and initiatives.

Resource and Financial Management

*Determine efficient allocation of resources to best support Epic operations and strategic initiatives.

*Manage budgets headcount and vendor contracts to ensure cost-effective delivery of the Epic enhancements and implementations.

Physical Requirements

*Office Environment: Tasks may be conducted within a climate-controlled office setting.

*Travel: Travel may be required including travel between facility locations remote facilities and out-of-town destinations as needed. 25% of travel time expected.

*Safety Equipment: May require the use of safety equipment for infection prevention.
