Level 1 Paraeducator -SNAP Salary Schedule
Long Term Substitutes are paid at $19.31 per hourfor the time worked. Work performed each month is paid at the end of the following month.

SUMMARY OF ASSIGNMENT
The Counseling Assistant position plays a pivotal role in providing evidence-based student support as determined by a child study team or PLC student support data. . The position is highly specialized requiring ongoing training work within an MTSS model and monitoring student progress toward goals related to social-emotional learning within a school environment. Multiple adults are involved daily in some instances which requires flexibility and communication with outside resource support.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide academic and/or social-emotional intervention for students identified as needing additional support.
- Assist in building students social skills and a healthy self-concept.
- Work with teachers in fostering a peer support system within the classroom for students who need additional support.
- Provide resources to families to support their childs progress in the home setting and develop a working relationship with their teachers and agencies.
- Maintain ethical behavior and confidentiality regarding student information at all times.
- Attend meetings and participate in relevant professional development.
- Maintain digital data documenting student progress for each student on your caseload.
- Serve on a TEAM to make home visits when appropriate consistent with District policy.
- Lead school-wide systems for celebrating student growth achievement and positive contributions.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum of an Associate Arts degree required with education or experience in psychology/social work/counseling.
- Strong positive belief in the ability of all students to learn and grow.
- Positive motivating and caring attitude towards students and their families.
- Ability to intervene with students independent of direct supervision.
- Comfortable with technology and presentation software.
- Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
- Ability to work collaboratively with building and district support staff.
- Ability to create a positive relationship with families and others who provide care services.
- Professionally interact with students school staff and community members.
- Successful Washington State Patrol and Federal Bureau of Investigation Fingerprint Clearance.
- Completion of all district-required training within thirty (30) calendar days from the hire date.

- Possess dexterity of hands and fingers to demonstrate activities and prepare materials.
- Ability to walk in the classroom and outdoor environments.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Substitute positions are on an on-call as needed basis.
Verification of identity and United States work authorizationmust becompleted before employment commences. The successful candidate for thispositionmust complete a fingerprinted background check with the Washington State Patrol and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Employment is contingent upon clearance of the background check.
